Heh....the only thing I can think of is it leads to a bigger trade, that either he is being flipped or he is replacing someone that is being traded (Lee, CBud, Martin, Battier)....

Otherwise it is just stockpiling assets...getting a former number 11 pick in the draft for a lower first round pick in the future....a free look, so to speak.

some guy said " you hadnt heard of him before this" ... Ever hear of a thing called college ball?

He was one of the best best players in college that year. If he had a jump shot hed have been the no 2 pick for sure. The guy has the same skillset has lebron james but in a smaller package. That draft I was like man if I could pick one person out of the entire draft for us itd be T will.

Brooks Martin and T will would be awesome...because williams is a point forward. Probablly the best passer in his draft class (outside of rubio). You play aaron more as a sg but matched up against opposing pgs since we will can run the point from the SF posistion.

I am telling you guys...T will has the most potential to be a superstar on our team. I am excited...heck if nothing else we will see some nasty dunks and buzzer beater half cour shots. I think he had 4 in his first year.

Hes got closer written all over him.

That makes a bit more sense. JT has been getting some good playing time last couple of games (excepting last night).

Nice, we get a guy who we can throw more alley oops too, and our defense improves, Jermaine Taylor is the odd man out here, I don't see this guy getting anymore minutes come playoff time. Hopefully the Rockets trade away JT, 1st round pick, and maybe Cbud, and Jefferies for a superstar come February's trade deadline.

This move makes a lot of sense to me. 2012 lotto protected? We really aren't giving up much. For the talent this guy has, so young in his career, at a position of need? This is a coup. How can anyone be disappointed about this deal. We still have the Knicks 1st in 2012, and we still have the option to swap spots with them in this year's draft (assuming we get our act together and start winning games). And now we have just added one of the most athletic ball players I have seen in years. A guy that has the ability to become a lock-down defender. Lee and Williams are going to help our team emensely during their time in Houston. Morey clearly gets it!

    IN MOREY WE TRUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will admit that a trade needs to happen. We need to either move verterans and go young or move youth and add verterans...(like iggy or wallace).

Id love to move martin or brooks with chase in a deal to get Wallace or Iggy or even josh smith.

We litterally have 2 full teams now...

    brooks
    martin
    battier
    scola
    Ming

    Lowry
    Lee
    T will
    Jordan Hill
    Brad Miller

With two guys that could probablly start in chase and patterson.

Its cool but dange do we really need two teams? Maybe we can have a home and away team.

For sure. The stench of desperation around here is so thick you can cut it with a butter knife. If this guy can't play for a good coach like Avery Johnson, then what makes folks here think he'll produce for Adelman? I'd like to see someone who thinks this is a good idea explain how his head will suddenly screw on straight simply because he's a member of the Rockets. And I ask the same question about Williams that I've asked about the other lotto bust Jordan Hill: If these guys were bonafide NBA players, then why would their old teams jettison them in this manner ESPECIALLY when said team is also desperate for good players? Once again the Rockets have chosen to invest in fool's gold.

    What?

They stole Hill from NY because they wanted cap room to sign 2 Max players.....and it was what we demanded to take back Jeffries contract.

As for Williams, he was the 11th pick in last year's draft...and we gave up a pick in the 20s in 2012 to get him....

It was an upgrade in talent today, and talent in the future.

Is it a superstar move, no, but it is an incremental improvement and any of those are welcome.

And then we'll flip Randolph and Williams and NY pick for Melo.

Hill was a steal? Seriously? How can a guy who was the 8th pick in the draft who was dumped from a losing team be considered a steal? What is your definition of steal because I'm not seeing much of anything from him besides the fact he can dunk in a nice way and his braids look really cool. And let's not get started on Jeffries. But so far as this upgrading their talent level, how so? What good is all that physical talent when your head is screwed on backwards? Again, I ask: what makes you (and everyone else) so certain that a guy who couldn't play for AJ would suddenly do so for RA? Is it because RA tolerates losing more than AJ? And please give real reasons and not speculation as to you happen to think the future may bring.

they're not building a team with any sense of cohesiveness. one move is made with no consideration for the one before or the current roster. they're compiling flippable assets, as best i can tell.

at least that's what i HOPE they're doing...because if they truly believe they're assembling a team to contend with these moves, than they're not as smart as i hope they are.

Big men take time to develop. J. Hill didn't start playing from a young age. His positioning has improved (not dramatically) and he has really worked hard on a right handed hook shot that is very hard to stop. His rebounding is inconsistent, but he has shown that he can box out elite rebounders in the league (see Lakers game vs Gasol).

While his trade value is still pretty low at this point, it is definitely much higher than it was during his stint with the Knicks.

As to your other point... Players love playing for Adelman. This is a fact. This doesn't guarantee that T-Will can put it all together here. The Mavericks ALL quit on Avery. He can't tolerate certain personalities and this is a serious flaw.

You talk about Avery as if he is a HOF coach, as a player maybe but as a coach I dont think so. Who would want to play for the Nets? They are going nowhere and fast. You said it was a desperate move buy us?? It was more of a desperate move on their part letting go of an 11 pick for a late 1st rounder the way the Knicks are playing it wont be worth anything better than what we got for it. You need get off your know it all horse and come back to reality bro...

The problem with Hill is that he has no basketball instincts, that's why he can never improve beyond a certain level.

Do you wonder why when he posts up on a set play he can make a really nice move, or he can make these monster dunks, but he also throws up the most awkward shots and layups that have no change of going in?

It's cos he has no instincts, he does the moves he has practised but other than those moves he has no ability to improvise. Which makes him an occasional bench sparkplug, but if a team ever pays attention to him, he will be stopped cold

Morey strikes again - Good Article below asessing the trade . . .

    http://www.businessinsider.com/heres-why-that-trade-the-nets-made-will-backfire-2010-12

Here's Why That Trade The New Jersey Nets Just Made Will Backfire
    Adam Fusfeld | Dec. 15, 2010, 9:53 AM

The New Jersey Nets just sent Terrence Williams to Houston in a three-team trade.

In return, they received Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic, the Lakers' 2011 first-round pick, and a lottery-protected 2012 pick from the Rockets. The Nets also sent forward Joe Smith to the Lakers.

The Nets obviously made the deal with an eye on Carmelo Anthony. New Jersey got trade bait (draft picks covted by Anthony's team) and unloaded the talented, but troubled, Terrence Williams as part of the swap.

But the Nets made a grave mistake with this trade. First, the Nets gave away young talent banking on the fact that an opposing superstar will want to commit long-term to their 6-19 squad.

Worse, in exchange for Williams (a player who can fill the stat sheet, plays commendable defense, and has terrific athleticism,) the Nets got two late first round picks. Sure, Denver has made its desire for draft picks well-known, but the type the Nets acquired are useless. Many general managers would rather have the second-round pick the Nets already own than the Lakers' first rounder.

It's rare for any player picked outside the top-25 to develop into a rotation player. But while first-round picks automatically get two guaranteed years, general managers have the luxury of the standard non-guaranteed contracts for second rounders.

The lottery-protected Rockets pick is destined to be a late pick as well – not the type of asset the Nuggets can use to potentially replace Anthony. So while the Nets will sell this trade as another step towards acquiring an unwilling superstar, we're left wondering whether the Nets surrendered a better trade asset, in Terrence Williams, than they acquired.

Interesting find, considering the unlikely source (a business rag!). I thought this image was striking. From the looks of it, Williams immediately becomes the strongest looking dude on the team, except, perhaps, for Chuck, who can lift St. Bernard puppies with his toes (a little known fact, the Chuckster being a modest fellow, as we all know). I must say that I'm impressed.

Every post you have in this thread so far absolutely stinks of ignorance. I mean Jesus Avery Johnson was literally fired for putting solid players in his dog house and not letting them play, and to don't think a change of scenery would be good for him?

Terrance Williams is a good player RIGHT NOW. He is a play-maker and a defender at the very least. That is not speculation. Let me repeat for everyone that doesn't watch this kid play. He is a play-maker and a defender NOW. Potential whatever, he is am upgrade now, and he is 4 picks better than the best the pick we just traded can possibly be.

    Today.

The first day players signed during the offseason can be traded.
