I'm sure part of it was coaching, but there were other reasons for some of those guys.

I think the main issue with Jones was injuries and then losing confidence. In games, when healthy, where he played a significant amount of minutes he had stretches where he'd put up 10+ points in a quarter, hustled, handled the ball decently well, etc. We'd win most of those games (but that was what, 3 years ago?). Then freak injuries started happening and he declined significantly. If healthy, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he improves - I mean he has to, after last season. He couldn't possibly play any worse.

Dwight, he always had it in him. He had plenty of good games as a Rocket. He just needs to be focused and in a good place. Once he gets annoyed with something, that's when things start to go wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets frustrated with the Hawks at some point.

Lin actually played his best basketball as a Rocket. After leaving the Rockets, he never looked quite the same IMO. He had a pretty decent season last year though. If he gets to run the show in NY, I'm sure he is going to have a decent year.

Lawson - where does he even play now; I didn't know he signed with a team. Is he still with Indiana?

Points and 3's, huh? There's more to basketball than putting up points in the preseason. Jones' style of play is not conducive to actually winning basketball games.

People who hate on him are the posters who can't ever be wrong and whose self worth is completely tied to their ClutchFans predictions.

Jones was always going to be just a regular rotation role player who like majority of other role players would be inconsistent. Some good games, some turds and some average games. He is a good guy to have off the bench in a 9th, 10th man role under the right coaching

The theories by basketballaholic and other idiots that he would be out of the NBA by now were absolutely ludicrous. He has shown he can contribute in some capacity and as such has a place in the league.

Can't stop the #agendacrew from spouting nonsense. It was always about their dream of DMo starting

None players of the draft class incl. JLamb, Donuts, Terrence and Royce White has amounted to something special as of now.

Jones was actually good for us 3 years ago when he was the starter in Dwight's first year. Last year he was the worst player on the floor, you simply can't expect him to return to form so it was the right decision to let him go even if he plays a lot better.

I'm not sure if he will be able to get off that super slow motion sling shot 3 pt stroke in the regular season. Good luck to him though.

If coaching was the problem, would anyone be surprised?

Houston's coaching is suspect in ALL the major franchises.

Usually players on NO get injured frequently, so naturally, since T Jones couldn't stay healthy here, he will go there and be healthy the rest of his career:eek:

    Makes sense I suppose:D

Last year he was litterly one of the worst players in the entire league. His advanced metrics had him in the bottom 10 in the entire league all positions, he was really bad.

Part of the problems with tjones is the same stuff we heard about when he was a Kentucky. He just doesn't bring it every game and is very inconsistent but has all the tools to be great. Its part of the reason he fell in the draft and also didn't start his sophomore year.

But he has offcourt issues. The guy goes out and drinks a lot. Trust me when I say this the rockets really did him a solid and didn't air out his dirty laundry. I know for fact the rockets sent some of their employees to local bars and clubs around Houston apologizing for some of the stuff he did. Hell and a friend of mines bar tjones was caught taking a leak on the patio in front of ppl.

I really hope for tjones sake he gets it together because he is a nice kid but he like ty Lawson has sole enternal problems he needs to sort out.

The knock on Harden from his college days by Doug Collins was also motor. Motor on the defensive end. Harden was at least competent on defense at OKC.

No doubt last season Jones' stats were awful. Amazing that 12 months ago the debate was over whether we could keep DMo and Jones given they were both expecting $15mill per season and now neither are with the Rockets (yet - in DMo's case).
Personally I liked Jones and weird injuries didn't help him. Wished it could've worked with him on the Rockets, but it's time for a fresh start for him and I hope he does well in NO.

this is only preseason and once the games are going to start counting, he will look lost out on the court again

Who knows if the injury bug hadn't plagued Jones and DMo.

I don't where yell get off thinking it had to do with the coaching while he was here! McHale did tell him to play harder! It's Jones' fault if he doesn't know how to do that.

Terrence Jones had the best chance until he started missing random stretches of games with freak injuries and flat out shrinking in some crucial games. Now our hopes are on D-Mo with a chronic back injury who might not even play for the Rockets after this contract dispute...

Alvin Gentry is one of the worse coach in this league.

And this can be translated to :

    1. JB is a much worse coach than we expected.
    2. Other than blaming JB, maybe the way we played or the team we constructed is a major factor also, maybe lots of players can't play along with James Harden or the way we designed for him.

I predicted you'd say this back in 02'. Finally I'm right. Only took a decade or so.
