He is a Josh Smith with a better shot and handles ...minus the crazy hops ans highlight dunks .. . Case close, nothing else to see here. Close and move on :/
A couple of seasons ago in a game against Orlando, ex-Rocket Jordan Hill made a couple of goos defensive stops against Howard. He got beat up most of the game, though. My point is, Jones, at 6'9 252lbs, is a much better defender and stronger than a 6'10 240lb Hill. This is why i think he will be able hold his own at the 5.
Jordan Hill is not a good player, and nobody would ever make a thread called "Jordan Hill: A lesser Howard", or if they did, they'd be ridiculed for it. Also, Jordan is a C/PF. Also, Jordan is taller than Jones. Also, they have different games... I think Terrence is a true PF, and to the extent you could slide most true PFs over to center occasionally, sure, Terrence can play spot minutes at center. But it's not all about the measurements, clearly, otherwise one could argue KD should play center (absent the weight, he has all the measurements). That's why this comparison is ridiculous. If the purpose of this thread ultimately is to determine what type of player Terrence will be, as compared to current NBA players, I don't see how he is a Howard light. He won't be near the defensive anchor, even if he is a good defender. His offensive game is completely different. And, ultimately, they do play different positions.
I once saw Nate Robinson block Yao Ming back when he was with the Knicks. Jeremy Lin is taller than Robinson and has also played for the Knicks. I therefore think Jeremy Lin can defend the center position. #logicbadlee
First of all, Hill was not a good player because was and never should have been playing at the 5. He could play good at the 5 because of his measurements. My post did not say because he is tall. It said because he is tall and 252lbs. KD is just tall. As far as their positions, can Howard play PF? Yes, he can. He probably won't be as effective as he is at center, but he can play there. Jones on the other hand has the size and speed to play both effectively.
You don't know what he can play effectively until he actually plays one damn minute in the NBA. Give it a rest coach.
Dwight Howard is an awesome player, but Dwight Howard would not make a very effective PF. He is one of only a handful of true Centers in the NBA, and therefore he would not be nearly as effective at the 4 as he is at the 5.
Terrence is actually the same size as Hakeem back in the day - around 6'10/250. Let the outrage begin. Oh yeah...
No... because you're devaluing the collective intelligence of this forum with your preposterous comparison.
Mainly because you stated this wasn't a comparison and then followed up with a comparison, a bad one at that.
