The fact is, maybe Jones will be able to be a capable center, maybe he won't. For you guys to flat out say that he won't be, is on yall. I am at least giving him the benefit of the doubt. One thing i know for sure, he should not spend a lot of time playing SF.
Why don't you try boosting the intelligence of the board by contributing to the thread instead of hating. It's not like you to hate.
no way man, T Jones is a 3/stretch 4, he has really good strength but would get owned by C's, particularly one Dwight (around yo lips) Howard
i know you are defending yourself, but it's true and many posters who have no beef with you are saying how stupid your threads are. if you think about it realistically, your posts are basically taking unproved players and saying that are on par with proven superstars. why can't you at least wait til Jones actually plays? Also, the other criticism is that he's not a center. Dwight Howard is definitely a center. if you make a good thread, then people will tell you. if your thread sucks, then everyone will tell you.
Its a bad comparison. At the same time belittling the potential of a player who was arguably the most consistent player in D-league with less minutes than the other more hyped players is not the direction to go either. He has potential in the same way Lamb or D-mo do. They were all impressive in their own way. Perhaps that means Jones could develop at his OWN position which is likely power foward to be a good player. However like others have said. Most likely he wont be playing center.
I will ask you the same thing. Why can't you all wait til he hits the court before you say that he can't. If you re-read the OP, i said Howard -lite. People tend to skip over that part.
Another thing. No one is talking about the way he shut Meyers Leonard down in summer league. Leonard, a rookie like Jones, is a 7 footer at the center position. Jones was guarding him most of the time they were on the court together. IIRC, Jones scored 20+ pts and double figure rebounds as well. I don't even think Meyers scored in the double figures. Small sample, i know, but something to look forward to.
I don't think Tinman is saying that he can't I think he is saying (just like the other 98% of this thread) that you can't extrapolate Summer League games into being on par with someone at a different position and who also happens to be the best at his position in the NBA...
Give the guy a break! I am enjoying reading this thread (lots of potential for jokes) and that makes for a much more interesting read than most of the boring crap so many others post. I think this could be extended to you as well though, right? Why can't you wait till he hits the floor in an actual NBA game before making such an insane comparison? Yeah he played well against Leonard in SL, but then again, who didn't? You're a good poster, but this comparison is pretty far out there, haha. The summer lull, I guess.
