It's actually the 49ers who get screwed here since they apparently accepted a 2nd rounder instead of whiting in initial trade talks

Couple things: #1) Key and David Boston are likely to be had for a 5th rounder or less. So there is not a lot of leverage with big contract WRs (even very talented ones) when everyone knows the player is out. #2 This is a weird situation that all parties, including Bmore, agreed to. Rather than take the big-contract pouting cancer on their team, or risk an arbitrator leaving them with nothing for all their trouble--they get a 5th round pick. Bmore basically gets out of the situation without comitting any contracts or players with a free draft pick, can't complain from their end.

The only real big loser in all this is TO's agent. Well, that guy and TO himself, but TO is a natural born loser and jackass so he can't help it.

David Boston is a year suspension waiting to happen.

If Terrell Owens thought San Fran was hell, Wait until he drops his first pass in front of the Eagles faithful.

Desert, about the only thing negative about this trade is that the Eagles lost a starter and an unproven draft pick. Statistically, Whiting had the worst season of the Philadelphia front four and the Eagles have Kearse and McDougle to take his place. They still have the first 4 round draft choices (and possibly another if Buckhalter moves to another team) which are generally the most important picks, although you have a few shockers in the after rounds, and they'll most likely use a few of them to bulk up their defense. They drafted Sheppard, Brown, and Lewis in 2002 to prepare for the aging and/or departure of Taylor and Vincent, both now in their 30s and the defensive backfield of the Eagles was never complete last year as most of the starters were out with injuries.

I don't think the Cowgirls should court Taylor too heavily, they have a great young talent in Newman and I think they should pair him up with another young standout CB through the draft and avoid Taylor because he is aging and was often injured last year.

    Sheesh. This is such bull****.

I never hope for failure for another man, but I do now for Terrell Owens, who I was forced to root for as a closet 49ers fan.

McNabb and Philly have no excuses now, even if alligator arms doesn't produce.

I think Baltimore got screwed. Not necessarily because they got Owens taken away from them, but because all the good wrs have been snatched up already and while this draft is deep with wrs, I doubt one that contribute immediatly falls to them with their 2nd rounder.

No question the bEagles have significantly improved their talent on offense. Whether this is offset by losing chemistry, effort and selflessness (subtracting Duce and adding an ego like TO) is another question. I do have major questions about chemistry, but If I were them I'd certainly done the move, they had to do something to get more weapons and they were unlikely to do it via the draft. Still, had not TO's agent not been a dumbass they would have had to give up nada, giving up a 5th rounder and starting DE is more than that.

It is the defense I am less sure about. The bEagles defense has been consistently getting softer and lighter the last couple of years. Last year they sprung a lot of leaks defensively, though the dam never broke. Whether Emmons, Vincent and Taylor--who brought much of the remaining toughness they had, will be replaced in skill and leadership with their groomed replacements is a big question, though I agree the loss of their DE is not that great as long as Kerse can stay healthy.

IMO the Cowboys could use another vet in the secondary. RW and Newman are great young players, but make youthful mistakes. Complimenting them with Woodson and Taylor would seem to me to be the right move. But it all depends on Taylor's cost. They can't use their highest picks IMO on a CB ready to contribute right away when they need to address an RB and an OT first. I'd like to use Taylor for a couple years at CB, than a move to safety and use lower round picks to develop the next corner.

I will say this, depsite all the hoopla, I am not worried about the Deaskins in the NFC East, the bEagles are the target. The Deaskins always throw a lot of money around but always seem to forget the quality teams are built inside out--starting with the trenches. And ya'll shouldn't worry about the Deadskins either, ya'll big concern is the rise of the defensive unit being put together in Big D, it is taking the form of the Bucs D where if you pair it with an average offense you have a heck of a tough team. A CB opposite Newman who can cover the big WRs (Muhammad, Owens, Key, etc) is the last piece to that defense.

Emmons was a great coverage LB but not very good at stopping the run but he was still considered the best LB in the Eagles mediocre LB core. As I said before, Taylor and Vincent were both aging and dealt with injury much of last year but those losses are huge as well. I also said that I think they will bulk up their D through the draft, whether it will work or not we'll have to see.

Anyway, Baltimore is scheduled to play Philly in Philly so it should be an interesting matchup. I've already read on ESPN.com that some of the Ravens players can't wait to put a lick on Owens.
