Not according to the WFAA-TV reporter who broke the story. The companion is a different woman. That woman's identity is known to her but she won't release it until after she confers with WFAA management and her sources.
OK, I don't remember attempting suicide recently, but I've been known to do some weird stuff in my sleep...
Today's 1:30 PM Bill Parcells press conference will be an absolute zoo... This is all Jerry Jones' fault for signing this guy in the first place and he's getting exactly what he deserves. Judging from the smug way Owens just left the hospital, I'm leaning more and more to this being another of his "look at me!" episodes.
An interesting theory I just heard....NOT A FACT...JUST A THEORY.... Publicist was at T.O.'s house before he took those pills. Maybe, he was depressed because the Cowboys/Jerry Jones/Parcells were threatening for him to shape up or ship out. Why would the publicist be at his home? As a result, T.O. loses it and decides to take those painkillers to distract the Cowboys from letting him go. T.O. knows that if the Cowboys let him go, that his career is over. So how do you save face? Attempt a suicide and get everyone to sympathize for you. It's no secret that the players don't like him. Fans were ripping up T.O. signs and jerseys at the last home game and booing him. So maybe the publicist was there to come up with a way to garner public support for him in the event the Cowboys were to release him.... What a mess for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys.
Can you describe the "smug way" he left? I'm in Oklahoma and ESPN doesn't have any footage of him leaving the hospital.
i know you are just throwing it out there, but that theory is really really bad and makes HUGE leaps. #1 were they ever threatening to ship him out after the first few games? #2 ok so TO loses it, but why would a man that is as cocky as him think his career would be over?
anybody want to bet that it's going to be just like the Burger King commercial? Questions being asked and Rosenhaus does all the talking. "No comment"
I can sincerely appreciate the compassion of guys like MadMax & RocketRiver but I also feel that their compassion and understanding is misplaced in this instance. Owens is quite simply a miserable ******* for whom I simply cannot work up one iota of compassion. I will extend him compassion when I see him do the same. Needless to say, I will not be holding my breath. As I posted earlier, there are thousands of people out there whose lives were destroyed over a year ago - people whose so-called "government" turned its back on and left them to starve and die that deserve my compassion and support and the personal problems of an egotistical millionaire football player simply does not compare. Now everyone tries to compartmentalize Owens by separating his play from his persona but to me you simply can't pick and choose which T.O. is real because they are all T.O.. The unfortunate truth is that today, nearly everyone here in Dallas is talking about this guy (which is exactly what he wants BTW) while the death of a truly great man (Byron Nelson) is going virtually unnoticed.
As you can imagine, Baylor Hospital was packed with news media. Owens comes out flashing his trademark "T.O." grin, gives everyone a "thumbs up" and hops into an SUV and drove off. Latest word is that Owens will hold his own press conference within the next few hours. Doesn't appear to be a suicide attempt to me but hey, I'm a cynical SOB...
It probably was a suicide attempt, a successful one in his mind. I didn't see it, but I imagine that grin and thumbs up translates to him feeling good that he is back on the front page in the sports world.
I expect TO to play . . . in Philly TO is the kind of guy that Will FIGHT Through this IMO He will come out . .just to show the world he 'ain't no punk' he plays best when he has something to prove. Rocket River
I generally See the 'Public' Persona like a WWE Wrestler . . . not to be taken too seriously Rocket RIver
Again...not my theory.. 1...Jerry Jones doesn't like looking like a fool. 2...because no other team would ever take a chance on him after the Cowboys.
