In my ever so humble opinion..... 1. There is no way this could be "accidental". You do not accidentally take that many pain killers. This was a cry for help. 2. We will not see TO on the field until next season, and I do not think it will be in a Dallas Cowboy uniform. Bill Parcells must be going apesh*t.
These police press conferences sure give very little information. Kind of defeats the purpose of even having the press conference. The first Lieutenant from the police department sure looked like he was enjoying his moment in front of the cameras.
That's exactly what I was thinking Clutch. This is just going to blow the whole T.O. thing up even more...a lot more. Philadelphia fans are some of the most brutal, unforgiving fans in all of sports. They cheered when Irvin broke his neck, they booed Destiny's Child, they attaced Santa Claus, they wwere out to get other teams players (Bounty Bowls I, II), etc. If T.O. plays in week 5, expect some "Go Kill Yourself" posterboards etc. along with some other nasty, nasty stuff.
I had a dad that had manic depressive disorder. I know a lot about it. I don't need a course in it. TO is a jackhole and I'm not going to feel sorry for him. You can be a celebrity and not act like him. You can also be a celebrity, have problems, and deserve sympathy because you do not act like an ass hat.
If anybody actually cares about the guy, football should be his last priority until he's better... and rehab should typically take longer then the average NFL football season. But, too many people care about his image and making money... with himself being right in the middle of it. Thus, they'll do the song and dance about him seeking counseling, and he'll be back on the field in no time... and the next "incident" will just be a matter of time. Is Drew Rosenhaus still his agent? If he is, we should be hearing something from him soon... and if he isn't, he'll have no problems coming out and saying the truth about TO and whether or not he really needs help.
Drew is still his agent. Right now, Rosenhaus' agency is not issuing any comments and are directing all inquiries to Owens' publicist.
max and others have pointed it out over and over again, but it can't be said enough: his issues are not relative to anyone else's. it is 100% irrelevant how successful and rich he is, he is a human being who needs help. you can despise his antics on the field and with the media, but don't kick a man when he's down, that sucks. it shows a lack of character that you accuse TO of having.
Although TO has a huge ego and mouth, he seems to be at least a decent human being compared to other NFL players that do not get near the scrutiny. Among the numerous players that get charged with DUIs, Drug Dealing (see Terrence Kiel last night), and numerous other charges, TO is a stand up guy. The problem to me is that TO is a guy that grew up without family and without just about anything else, and he never actually grew up. He is still a little kid in a very athletic body making a ton of money. That is not the best combination in the world. Alot of players come from that background and deal with it much better, but I hope he can get the help he needs, and I hope he can come back, learn from his mistakes, and hopefully learn to play football and live his life for something greater than himself (even though I hate the Cowgirls).
I don't think it was "accidental" either but I was throwing it out there to be fair. It's going to be very intresting to see how this all plays out
I agree with this. I've always said that it is almost criminal that TO and Randy Moss get painted as bad guys while Ray Lewis is ignored and even gets a Super Bowl MVP. That being said, if TO uses this situation to wake up and get some help, it could really change his life for the better. Didn't Deion Sanders call his attempted suicide "the best thing that ever happened to him"?
TO will play either against Philly (and rip them up) or the week after that. Jerry Jones wants to win and you don't need to be happy to play football.
