So what is the police officer saying? He said it was a medical situation and not a criminal situation, what does that mean?

Dallas Police department just said this is not a criminal investigation or a criminal offense. They aren't confirming anything about him taking pills. The police guy is saying officers responded to Paramedics. 911 tapes have to be requested by the Fire Department.

Are all Dallas officials this incompetent?

Its like the Cowboys are the mafia, and they control all the media, police, city council, and half the population. I guess the mayor was the only one to step up to them... forcing them to move to Arlington. I fear for that mayor's life.

again...this is likely physiological. and part of that is the resistance to get help for it. you don't just "get depressed" like you took some action to get there. you "get depressed" like you get the flu...it happens to you.

i don't know if you've known someone who has gone through this sort of thing...but it has nothing to do with surrounding circumstances. they become part of the story, but they're not the cause. you're life can be roses, but if you're body is producing chemicals that cause you to feel like crap, this is where this leads. there is no valid comparison with others in the world who have worse problems. it's not about that.

Bad reaction to medication, ok, I'll buy it, but Suicide...Give me a break...He may starve for attention, but suicide...

Depressed, yes, I'll buy that, given how TO is perceived, but I still can't buy the suicide arguement...Not that it couldn't happen, and granted, money doesn't solve everything...If he does have a problem, its all in his head...

    So . . .
    Only *nice* people deserve sympathy
even if it is something mental that may cause them to not be nice
    they still don't deserve it . ..

I sympathize with anyone that feels Suicide is an out
    something is seriously wrong

Okay... the women who was at the scene IS his publicist.

Not suprising that she'd try to minimize the damage on why she called the police... not so sure we'll ever see the truth.

But, the fact is... TO needs help... if they pass this off as a "drug reaction", and nothing more, they're doing him a huge disservice.

It doesn't have to be called "suicide", but the same reaction needs to be taken as if somebody was trying to take their life: please get him some serious help.

you're assuming rational thought here. you can't assume that.

i know guys who trashed incredible careers because of depression. leads to alcoholism and other chemicals for many. suicide attempts are extremely common...there's a suicide in this country every 17 minutes...for every success, there are 25 attempts. nothing rational about any of it.

Just more attention for the ultimate "attention w****". If he really wanted to "kill" himself there are far better ways of doing it. Popping pills in front of people sounds like a person yearning for more attention. Maybe a cry for help. Maybe a cry for sympathy. Who knows. It will be REAL interesting what the Cowboys will do with him. How can they continue keeping this guy on their team. This will become a major distraction for the rest of the season. Everyone's gonna hound every person from players to the waterboy to the parking lot attendent about how T.O. is doing. Not to mention, I'm sure the NFL Players Union is going to want him to go thru some kind of Rehab or Depression counseling.

but then the publicist won't make as much money, nick. and that's what makes the world go round, remember?? she needs him healthy and on the field. no perception of weakness. superman, right?

"Mr. Maguire... this is his fourth concussion. Shouldn't somebody get him to stop?"

"Hey, hey... it would take a tank to stop your dad. It would take all five Super Trooper VR Warriors to stop your dad. Right? Right?"

    "F you."

Bill Parcells is probably sitting in a dark room somewhere speechless thinking of what more he will have to deal with from the media this year. This is going to send the T.O. obsession in to fantasyland. If he plays, the Philly fans are going to absolutely barbecue him in Week 5.

T.O. is great. For all the crazy stuff he does on the field, he never gets in trouble off of it. And, his work ethic, by all reports, is nuts.

When healthy, there is no better WR. He's never afraid to go thru the middle. Best blocking WR in the NFL. Plays with more heart than anybody in the league. Guy played in the superbowl on one leg.

Much respect to T.O. Hope he gets the help he needs.

I had a very bad experience with pain killers when I had my wisdom tooth removed. I had to go back shortly cause they didn't seal the cut well, so they put some more pain killers in me when they operated.

when i got home, i started feeling extremely depressed for no apparent reason. it was a constant feeling of something bad was going to happen. it went away after an hour or so, but that was the worst feeling ever.

I would be extremly surprised if TO saw the field for a couple of weeks. Even if all the reports are wrong and it was accidental, I don't think we'll see him on the field for a good while

Okay, I know a thing or two about suicidal people. For one, why would someone try to kill themselves with painkillers? I know a thing or two about those as well and that would be a miserable way to go. When I took one too many once I just puked all day and cried and hated everyone. Also, the police just said they were dropping out of the situation and that tells me also that he wasn't committing suicide. But the thing that sticks out to me the most is someone that cocky and arrogant isn't going to commit suicide. He thinks his poop doesn't stink. He's "too good" for that route. He's got an addiction to painkillers I assume; I loved them too at one point. Nasty little habit. He needs to go to rehab.

Seriously, MB, go educate yourself about depression & mental illness in general. Maybe re-read Max's posts first, he's pretty spot-on.

Dude needs help, hope he gets through this.
