I actually admire guys like yourself, MadMax & RocketRiver for your sincere compassion. However, as I have maintained from the start, don't take this episode too seriously. It has nothing to do with suicide and depression but more likely it's just another T.O. "look at me" stunt. Think about it for minute: do you honestly believe that a man who loves himself as much as T.O. would try to kill himself? Also does anyone here actually believe that T.O. would give the Cowboys the means to get rid of his ass (without pay, I might add...)? If he's suicidal they can place him on the Physically Unable to Play list thereby ending his season and quite possibly his career. Doesn't sound like the T.O. I know... All I know is that yesterday, NOBODY was talking about T.O. while today, EVERYBODY is talking about T.O.. Now call me a cynical, heartless, self-righteous, compassionless, mean, unfeeling, playa hatin' b*stard but I can't help but feel that somewhere Owens is sitting around laughing with glee with that little toothy smirk of his at how all eyes are back on him.
Are these the same people that broke the story that Matt Leinart would start for Arizona this weekend? If anything a narcissist like Owens is trying to make himself live longer.
On the Dan Patrick show Keith Olberman was saying that a couple of teams wanted him evaluated for his mental health when he was a free agent but he refused. Olberman, obviously not a doctor, was sayin that he shows symptons of bi-polar disorder with the mood swings.
t It sort of goes along the lines that most American have a heart when it comes to Cobain or some punk a$$ like T.O., but remain silent and clueless when citizens of other countries are murdered with our governments blessing. They are having a freaking press conference because of a failed suicide attempt by an athlete. Oh yes, this is worthy of a news conference in our warped society. Send the moron to a mental hospital, but no wait, it is all a mistake because he has to play football on Sunday. T.O., your are a failure. You didn't succeed in killing yourself.
Actually, I'm impressed. I didn't think there would be this many people able to diagnose clinical depression just from some interview clips. Or that there were so many perfect people posting here that have a right to tell everybody else what terrible people they are.
Or that maybe some people actually don't just want to wish the worse sh*t on everyone else? Imagine that.
That was all HER word. SHE said he had told HER that he was "depressed." He answered "Yes" he took the meds. But not when the meds were taken. As to the question of "did you try and harm yourself." He reportedly answered "Yes".... but further reports state he was "groggy" when asked. I'll reserve full judgment.
LOL, Bill Parcells is owning these reporters during the Press Conference. I love watching coaches/players blowing up on reporters, it's hilarious. Doesn't it always seem that reporters ask the dumbest questions?
This is starting to look more and more like a media overblown situation. TO probably took one too many pills one night, prolly felt a little down.. prolly got a little sick from it (it happens).. and somebody put all this together along with his joking "yeah, I tried to hurt myself" quote to make this nonstory.
