Yes I do. I believe in the abstract they already knew that but seeing someone with close to elite physical tools succeed so well after a decade of mediocrity has to only amplify their desire based on the timetable they have to work with.
Atkinson is exceptional at in game adjustments and preparation. I agree Silas will be high on the Rockets list. The Rockets would not touch Griffin with a 10 foot pole. The domestic violence accusations are very bad.
Kelvin Sampson would not be a bad choice. He is extremely close to Harden and understands basketball at a very high level. Players defend well and play hard for Sampson.
Atkinson is good coach, exceptional is a bit overzealous. Nets in weak East never get out of first round, if he even makes the playoffs.
We don't want D'Antoni for next season. He isn't a championship coach. The 6'5 and under thing is cool and all, but he's lost it. Doubling (tripling?) down on that isn't going to work. Sometimes you have to call and timeout and tell them to attempt some freakin layups! I love small ball and Green at point centre - for SOME of the game. But we need a fresh mind in the mix.
Considering Silas was on the short list before MDA, that makes sense. And he is an assistant in Dallas that has a similar offensive mindset. Any coach they get is probably going to have to be in deep with analytics and be ok running a switching defense. The coach will have to really align with Harden. Silas is young, but the Rockets appear to like him. He has worked with GSW and DAL.
This is my sneaky underrated choice. He has worked with the Rockets before and like you said, close to Harden. Close to EG, but who knows how long he will be here. And would be good for the defense.
Combination of both. Get rid of both of them. Morey has sold everything to win now. Only issue is this tram hasn’t won anything. Zero assets.
I know you are joking, but it would be an interesting choice. Miami has a really good program down there and I seriously would not be mad at hiring one of their assistants.
