Everytime one looks like they are going to pull away the other one gets it done. Nadal so close to breaking then Roger holds and goes on a run. Another instant classic
well that ended up sucking for nadal on that bad call against federer. he whipped federer's second serve back and would've had control of the point for 15-30 but they called it out. then after the challenge calls it in, federer crushes the next serve for a service winner. was the difference b/t nadal having a chance to break back and even up the 4th set and now going to the 5th set. edit: if there's a challenge that makes them redo the point and the guy was on 2nd serve, does he go back to 1st serve or stay on 2nd?
nadal does it again. he's just incredible. comes back from the longest match in french open history and wins a 5-setter over federer? damn. and if you would've told me 2 or 3 years ago that there would be a guy who would not only challenge federer, not only beat him occasionally, but actually have a huge mental edge on federer and start to beat him in every grand slam, there's no way i'd have believed you. i'd barely believe someone would challenge him. i mean federer is an ice water in the veins killer against everyone in the world of tennis and yet against nadal he can just fall apart and actually be mentally beaten by him to where he just can't hit anything in a 5th set.
this is exactly what i was alluding to earlier in the thread. it's tough for this to sink in to anybody's mind who has been watching tennis the past 6 years, and it feels ridiculous to even type, but it's becoming apparent that nadal is better than federer (who two years ago was rapidly becoming the consensus best tennis player of all time). kudos to him. what a match. again.
Good match. It was nice to see Federer's daddy own him again. I can't stand Roger's routine after winning by rolling around on the ground and crying.
even when nadal started getting tired in the 3rd set, and federer was challenging his service games, nadal still wouldnt forfeit a break point. how many break point chances did federer have in the first 3 sets? i think more than double nadals. his determination to win the points that he cant lose is just amazing. kudos to federer. i love it when athletes lose their cool n cry and it was cool of him to take the mike first to observe protocol. and nadal's always respectful of federer and praising him.
If Tracy McGrady had half the heart or cajones that Nadal has, the rockets would have had a ring by now.
I feel bad for Roger, its not that he has gotten that much worse, but nadal has caught up and passed him.
Nadal is king, no doubt. It's honestly ridiculous how these two guys provide amazing tennis, match after match. Some of those rallies were just breathtaking in tennis terms. It was definitely worth staying up for all night on the east coast. Vamos Rafa!
It was a great idea for the Aussies to put the championship match up against the Superbowl -- i'm sure that jump started the sagging ratings.
