Then you should like Federer even less since he openly admits that he thinks Novak fakes his injuries. He doesn't beat around the bush about what he thinks about Novak.

Novak should have just taken his loss though. Even in his condition though it seemed like Novak could still out hit Roddick at times. You never know what could happen.

Great match between Nadal and Verdasco. Two leftys going at it was a bit odd to watch.

i'd rather watch this final then the superbowl.

sampras is my favorite player but i like federer, i hope he ties the record and passes it this year.

I agree that Novak should have finished the game. Like I said, I like Novak less now than I did before.

I did have a beef with Roger for being so dismissive of Novak, until Novak beat him a couple of times. Roger isn't my favorite player, but I don't hate him.

With Roddick, his attitude towards Novak was only one in a long list of grievances I have with him.

The only solace I can take is that because it was an issue before between Andy and Novak, then Djokovic should feel even more humiliated because after he made a big deal about it, he had to withdraw.

Yep, with his 6 - 12 all time record versus Nadal. (although I realize a decent portion of the 18 were on clay). Still makes no sense as a comment.

Anyways, the Nadal/Verdasco was one for the ages IMO. The atmosphere was amazing, and the tension was there from beginning till end.

Still, I realize it will be quite tough for Nadal to overcome the odds against Federer on hard court. However, as Nadal recently said after his match with Verdasco, this is a great start to his year. He's been criticized in the past for not performing as well in hard court events, but he is showing it early this season that he has improved on the hard court surface.

Nevertheless, I look forward to Nadal & Federer meeting once again, and I hope we get the delight of seeing another epic match between the two.

I don't think tennis fans could ask for a better start to the year, with Murray, Novak, Fed, and Nadal all playing great tennis this could be one of the most memorable years in a long time. If Roddick plays as well throughout the year as he did against Federer he will also be in play with the top 4 guys.
I can't wait till Sunday, and then the rest of the year should be amazing as well.

if nadal beats federer after going through that 5 hour match and on a hard court then roger's in trouble.

roger looks fantastic though so he should get this one.

I'm staying up for this final and skipping the Super Bowl.

Roger has to up the ante to keep up with Nadal. Every time he gains momentum it seems like Nadal pins him to the baseline and overpowers him. Roger's service hasn't been strong enough and is making him predictable as a result.

Federer starting to step up his game. It be interesting to see if Nadal starts to really wear down as this match progresses.

I think Rafer is showing the effects of his semi final he looks a little tight... this third set is a must win for him imo.

    cant you watch both?

as crazy as it is to think, i think they are at the point where Nadal's absolute best has slightly surpassed Federer's. federer is still the more consistent one, but he is playing this match well enough to have already finished off any opponent 3-0 the past several years, and he's had to claw his way to 1-1 here.

IMO it's a mismatch for Roger... that's why he comes off looking tentative. If he can find a way to get into a groove against Nadal then I think his "best" is still better. Attacking Nadal's serve let's him control the pace a little more which allows him to get into a rhythm. He's too discombobulated now.

And I'm not a big fan of American football. Weird, I know. I like basketball, golf, tennis, cricket and soccer.

Apparently Rafa has only lost once before out of 77 games when he has won the first set.

There has been some mighty good rallies in this. Both players hitting some crazy shots.

nadal v federer should be illegal it's so good. granted, they're pretty much the only tennis i watch since sampras retired and i'm sure other players hit really good shots fairly often, but these two guys in rallies are just incredible. nadal can chase down anything and federer can seemingly turn a horrible situation back to his advantage while chasing a ball down any time he wants. and since neither has a huge sampras-like serve we get tons of rallies (although i liked watching sampras bomb people to death as well). in fact, as strong as nadal is, what if he actually did have a huge serve? could he even be beaten?

How can root against either one? I can't really. Nadals my favorite, but I don't mind when he loses to Federer because he's a good guy.

Whatever the outcome of this match is Federer needs to book a few sessions with Agassi's personal trainer.
