Great! What are your thoughts on the expulsion of these two representatives? Your deflection makes it sound like you agree with them.

The white B should have been expelled as well. Even though she was silent, she was their leader and with her experience should have known better.

Hopefully they all come back but in no way should they be rewarded by the current presidential administration.

A big overreaction on the TN legislature. Certainly censure and other sanctions would’ve been more appropriate. Again we see with the current Republican Party where they celebrate lack of decorum in heckling a president during a state of the union, cry about respecting the will of the voters, do the opposite when it’s their political opponents.

She wasn't silent. She should have only been expelled if all the Republicans that also broke decorum rules were expelled. They weren't even brought up for expulsion.

The Memphis Three stood up against racism (one of the white legislators remarked that they should bring back hanging from a tree), their microphones were cut off in committee, they were told not to talk about racism so much.

When they took action against the failure to address gun issues, the two black members were kicked out but the white woman wasn't.

I have no issue with the three being honored by the white house for their stand in the Tennessee House of Racism and Anti-democracy.

Of course it wasn't the same crime. Are you injured? Justin and the Memphis Three weren't trespassing, for starters. They didn't storm the building.

You do understand there is a difference between attacking law enforcement while rushing and breaking into a building, and peacefully protesting in a building where you are allowed to be, right?

I'm happy the state is doing well economically for now. This thread isn't about the economy it's about the state governing body using racist and anti-democractic measures in plain view of the whole nation and if people will take action to stop it or be apathetic about it because their particular situation is okay.

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." MLK Jr.

"History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people."

    Martin Luther King, Jr.

Give them power and they shall abuse it when the people are not represented.

This is possible due to unfair representations caused by gerrymandering. The court should have struck down gerrymandering. It's completely contrary to the core principle that the government is of the people.

Kinda what I came to say. Call it racism if you want and you wouldn't be too far wrong. But I think it's only the second biggest problem here. Seems to me like the republicans have made themselves such a comfortable monopoly on power with a gerrymandered super majority that they are now intolerant of dissent and unafraid of electoral consequences.

No doubt. Time will tell if Christian sharia law harms places like TN, FL, and TX.

I agree it’s def not the same. But look at how the left uses left leaning minorities as tokens and bastions, but is openly racist towards black conservatives. I thinks commodore was trying to get at the double standards

Nobody is being used by the left in this case. That is insulting to Justin Pearce, and Justin Jones. I doubt they feel like they are being used at all.

They disrupted an official proceeding, and led trespassing protesters into the chamber.

You realize that a black person doing their job isn't a crime right?

    No exceptions for race

They did disrupt a proceeding. They admitted so themselves. I don't think anyone was removed or charged for trespassing. It was a peaceful protest that broke decorum, something that is no longer that rare. Example below.

I don't believe that any reasonable and intellectually honest person would compare the recent breach of decorum to the violent attack on the US Capitol.
