So the Republicans during the proceedings used video captured by a Republican member on their phone. Using the phone to capture video is against the rules.

Yet nobody even talked about voting to remove them. The Republicans said it was okay because it happened during a recess when the decorum rules don't apply. Yet when it was pointed out that most of the actions carried by the three representatives was during that same recess, the Republicans ignored it.

Furthermore, Republican members told Jones that he should be gracious. It is literally that these people were kicked out for being uppity.

Yet, @Commodore is only worried about a non-existent comparison to January 6th.

Just listen to the explanation given by the Republicans from Tennessee. It is that they were worried about the precedent that would be set.

So the precedent that would be set would be allowing young black law makers to speak about issues that are uncomfortable for the older Republicans. The Republicans weren't upset by the rules not followed by their own white Republican colleagues. They didn't expel the one white woman who did the same things as the two black lawmakers.

It's on display and everyone can see it. It's just a matter of whether or not folks care enough to address the issue.

Ok, let's agree that most non-crazies think it's appalling, racist, hypocritical behavior. It's not unconstitutional. It's simply majoritarian politics in the racist backwater bigoted state of Tennessee, is it not? Not saying that all Tennesseans are like that, but if most voters re-elect the state legislature, then again, isn't that just majoritarian politics?

For the most part. But denying voters their duly elected representatives might be.

But, there are still constitutional actions that can be taken against blatant racism.

I think there are more voters that are apathetic than racist. If actions are taken to inflict damage to the economy and people's finances, changes can happen.

Eh, it took 50 years before the Supreme Court, in extremely controversial decisions at the time (which include rehearings, mult-day debates within the court that don't even exist anymore, retirements, and mental asylums) actually told states like Tennessee that they had to count urban and minority voters equally to rural white voters. This current action by the legislature is bad, but not nearly on the same scale as what used to happen.

Not accurate. The one not kicked out was not at all contrite for her actions. The one that wasn't kicked out, said the reason was skin color.

Everyone saw it. Do yourself a favor and don't try and make excuses.

The white Republicans that broke the rules weren't put up for a vote for removal. There wasn't even discussion to put them up for a vote.

When those kicked out had their microphones cut off and weren't allowed to speak during committee meetings, nothing happened to the Republicans that did that.

Agreed, it is one blatant macro action, but illustrates that there countless micro actions that happen all the time. In the past there were countless macro actions happening all of the time.

It still isn't something that should be tolerated. A signal can be sent. Rather a signal will be sent either way. The signal will either be that these actions have consequences or that an abusive majority can get away with these actions of punishing and removing minority voices.

GOP removing members of the opposition party for voicing their opinions is autocratic, plain and simple. This is crossing a line.

I don't get why kamala gets so much hate. She's not amazing but she does what a VP does. She's effective at what she does.

You can't really be defending this. You can't be that stupid.

Oh, excuse me. I momentarily forgot who I was responding to. You obviously are.

    Tennessee is doing amazing !

Tennessee saw an 8.6% growth rate in real GDP, just ahead of New Hampshire (8.5%) with California (7.8%) next.

Tennessee continued to improve its gross domestic product throughout the year, with a 9.9% growth rate that was second nationally, behind only Texas (10.1) between the third and fourth quarters of 2021.
I invite all my outraged non republicans to come visit and spend money like everyone else - business is going well - I added a diversity of clients including gays, blacks and I very sincerely appreciate everyone!
