Good lord, what a bunch of negative Nellies.

We fought L.A. almost to a draw without Tracy or Yao.

This team was competitive against the best team in the league without either of them.

The incredible thing about the current Rockets roster is that we can be that rare team that rebuilds and competes at the same time.

Our roster is loaded with fighters like it never was before. These guys aren't laying down in a 30 win season. Even without Yao, they will make the playoffs and nobody will want them in the first round. Book it.

And remember, Morey's not done doing what he's gonna do.

    I still believe.

We Could still make the playoffs. Suns, Kings, Warriors, Jazz, Timberwolves and Grizzlies should all have major problems next year. Then we just have to compete with Thunder, Clippers and Hornets for final playoff spots.

We still have a lot of summer left to make improvements

If we go out and get a Camby/Kaman type player this off season we will have a similar team that we ended the season with. It's way to early to start thinking about rebuilding. Its only June, let's wait to see what the official word is from the Rockets/Yao. If it is the worst case then its early enough that we can do something about it! :)

Can we just wait to hear what the Rockets have to say as opposed to 'unnamed league exec' before we start rebuilding?

    I second that too.
Even w/o Yao, we will make it to playoff next season. And beat LA with a fully recovered Yao!

Cant anyone see the forces at work here, We are not supposed to be an injured to team to get to the finals. Here's to you guys who see the glass half full with reality sprinkled in. This is a blessing in disguise folks. We all want a healthy team. We just didnt know how we were going to get it:)

Exactly. We'll still be a play off team next year without Yao. I have faith that Morey can continue to add low risk, high reward players and that another year of experience under Adelman's system will make the Rockets a dangerous team next year- Yao or no Yao.

10 in a row without Yao. He was present for the first 12.

I'd disagree with the last part. Brooks is no Francis. Wafer/Battier is no Mobley. Scola, I'd contend, is better than Mo Taylor.

But in general, I think the way a Brooks/Scola/Battier plus team would play would, at a minimum, be more heartening to watch, than any of those Francis led teams....and certainly more fun than those Francis led teams without Francis.

Chalk it up to luck, or whatever, but the Rockets did go 2-2 against the Lakers without Yao in the playoffs. When they lost, they really crashed and burned, but they didn't crash and burn overall.

Not that it matters, either way. Without Yao, T-Mac and Ron, or even with Ron, or T-Mac and Ron, or just T-Mac, etc. the team is going nowhere. It needed(s) to improve if Yao is healthy and Ron resigns.

If Yao truly is more or less done, it won't be fun overall.

I'm just hopefully that it will just be a more entertaining brand of mediocrity.

Don't forget, Rick's offense isn't meant for a SLOW center.

We're supposed to be quick. It was so beautiful when we executed in the playoffs.

Time to move on. End of the Yao Ming & TMAC era....although the latter might still play a game this season.
