I do software testing and development. The worst part is repetitive tasks and testing a project/program for weeks or even months until you literally would rather eat your own feces than look at it for another second.
^ It is like companies have fallen in love with the old productivity curve or gain graphs that show the work it would normally take 3 people to do but it is being done with only 1 and a half people. So they have also not only cut out so many labor hours which means another 1.5 salaries with benefits but they are also underpaying the people that are doing the work of extra people. That also helps the bottom line and with the way this economy is, it is just going to get worse. I mean I am damn glad and lucky to have my job but that doesn't mean that I cannot recognize when I am being taken advantage of. I have training that I have yet to enter because I don't have the time to do it. Maybe it will get entered in someday..who knows? And it is a good thing to be kept busy at work but there is a fine line of being kept busy and being overwhelmed. There have been some times where I have felt overwhelmed and add onto that people out in the field calling me because they have problems or projects that they need me to help them with...makes me wonder how I get any of my regular stuff done. I'm done ranting...time to read a couple of more threads pretty quickly and then back to it.
the company not having enough for payroll and being paid late every two weeks, a bunch of legal issues that won't go away no matter how much the higher-ups want them to, dealing with working for people who have no semblance of ethical business practices, etc. but at least i'm employed.
I dunno about you but I have run across some really Nasty Homeless people I am not talking dirty I am talking about cursing you out and harrassing people Being homeless does not give you a free pass to be an *SS! Rocket River esp in some cases the reason you are there is your own fault
EDIT: Web Server Administrator at a university - working with people who think they know more than you and stab you on your back when you have trusted them with shi... stuff. What, you don't have a job?
been here 3 yrs and only got a raise when i worked the first 6mos here. He just told me i will not be getting a raise. then he complains to me for being 7 minutes late and that i need to make up that time. *sigh* no insurance, no raise in 2 yrs. kids, go to school please
At the moment, the worst thing is to be given a bunch of new tasks to do, but the IT dept can't figure out how to give me the permissions to get to the programs and servers I need to do them.
I work for a logistics company that has been in "transition stage" for the past year and a half. We don't really do a good job at anything and don't have great customer service, plus all our stuff is always unorganized company wide. I hate it most cause of the stupid people that have no idea what to do or how to do their jobs. Just a bunch of big babies that need there hands held thru everything. Idiots.
I do video production for a University. Take various requests and cover events around campus. The best things far outweigh the worst. The worst is that there is very little creativity involved with a lot of it...there's probably only 1 "different" or "fun" project for every 20 that I do (I say fun because I like doing it). Other than that, faculty can be difficult to deal with because a lot of them are technology-phobes. But I certainly don't catch the worst of it. The best... I get paid pretty decent for my level of experience in the field. I'm getting a masters for free because employees get free tuition. I don't have anyone telling me how to do my job...I'm the only one that really knows video anyway. It's pretty relaxed...nobody is watching if I get here a few minutes late, for example.
I own an engineering firm, and we deal MAINLY with large home builders throughout the city, so usually things are very cut and dry. However, when I have to deal with smaller builders, and they feel like I should give them the prices I'm giving the big boys while taking on twice as much liability, I feel like ramming their heads through a wall.
I am supposed to do sales for IT company but most recently the marketing specialist and project manager have both quit. The company is very small, 15 employees. What I've been frustrated with lately is the amount of extra crap I've had to do (marketing and project management) while getting chewed out for the sales aspect of my job. Economy is pretty bad, no one is buying. But I guess I should be grateful that the extra duties given to me have given me more of a purpose here (job security). Job market is pretty brutal right now.
I agree completely. I love my job. I love the industry. That doesn't meant I don't know when I'm getting screwed. I am not the plant manager, scheduler, or the QC manager...yet 90% of the people in the plant come to me when there is a problem with production or they don't know what to do next. I kind of enjoy knowing that there are days where I run a $20 million business...even if I don't get paid nearly as much as the people who are actually charged with it.
Im a dentist...many "worst" things to name...but probably the one annoying thing that stands out is when a patients get pissed over something that is out of my control. For instance, a crown fails...not because I did a bad job, but because they suck at oral health. But, I have to sit there and get b****ed out. Not fun.
My job is in the UPS warehouse(hell) on canino and the worst thing is they tell you is that you will become 'driver top pay' and all they do is go outside the warehouse to hire random people to become drivers. Corruption?Racism? Is all good though about to become a rad tech. Straight acing my exams.
marketing.........the worst thing about my job is the company's insistence on holding potlucks, games, and activities for not-a-real-holiday events like go texan day or st patties day...............without any alcohol.
