The finale was a new mystery, but it was the main characters who were central to it, and it was different than what they'd done before. It's not as if they found a new hatch and that was that. There were also some episodes along the way that answered parts of some questions about the Others and Dharma. And even an episode that was mainly about the out-of-nowhere new characters was an entertaining hour of television, in my opinion. Season 3 was not 100% gold, but there were some very good episodes in there in the second part of the season.
This is such an interesting fight. The whole lack of compensation for webisodes reminds me of illegal downloading and how it impacts songwriters. Since they don't make money for performance, they are reliant upon CD sales, legal downloads and royalties for income and when that disappears, they can't survive. Most of them make a very average wage - $40-$50k per year - compared to many of the stars who sing songs written by those writers and make 50 times more than the writers do.
Spoiler They found out that an underwater hatch was disrupting communications off the island. A couple of Losties were able to shut it down and the rest of them contact a boat offshore which promises to send someone to pick them up.
Fox "24" Will have eight or nine out of 24 episodes completed. Originally scheduled for January, now premiere is delayed. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
It's for the best. Who the hell wants to watch only 8 episodes of 24? Not to mention this gives the writers and producers more time to come up with a coherent storyline for the season. The fans and critics were almost unanimous last year in their disgust with the writing and plotting.
Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, America's Next Top Model and Nip/Tuck are on that list. Thank god, the Rockets don't need the writers!!!
America's Next Top Model doesn't use writers. They even had people who they considered to be writers (who were not under a Guild contract) that they fired en masse earlier this year.
okay, not bad but not interesting enough to get me watching it regularly every week, Im willing to bet that boat is probably one of the Others.
I didn't want to give too much away, but there was more to it. I think the finale is worth watching. If it doesn't at least make you curious to tune in to the beginning of Season 4, then that's obviously your choice. But I think how they left it (and what happened in the episode as a whole) at the very least made the "it's just the Others on the boat" less likely and made it seem to me that there was something more interesting than that coming in Season 4. But they could've duped me completely.
It's seems much more likely that the boat represents a third group, which will be a common enemy to both the Losties and Others and will be a threat much larger than to just bickering groups of people. They may have designs for the island that have severe repercussions for all involved. I wouldn't be surprised if they reveal that the Others really did serve a good purpose, despite Ben's twisted leadership. In the season finale's flashforward - future Jack seemed ridden with guilt stemming from his fateful decision to radio the boat and bring them to the island. Evan
According to Dave McNary at Variety, the studios did offer us coverage of webisodes at least in terms of derivative material (meaning webisodes written for "The Office" would be covered. Webisodes written as new material directly for the web might not be covered). The also offered us residuals on streaming Internet after a free period (perhaps a month). They didn't give a specific rate, though McNary says it was expected to be 1.2% (which is a number that almost every WGAer would accept). All that was left was downloads, but if they were willing to essentially concede on streaming, there was likely a deal to be made on downloads. But we went on strike instead of staying at the table and trying to finish a deal.
