I use Crest White Strips about once a year and never have any problems with them. I've only used the 14-day ones, and they definitely make a huge difference. I started noticing my teeth were whiter after about a week.
I should've mentioned that I'm not in the US... Basically what I'm trying to do is gather information on different types of whitening, then go out and find it here according to whatever preferences I have (budget, etc...) Right now, I'm liking the trey idea. Mostly because I've spoken to a few dentists who have told me to stay away from it, because it could have long-term effects on ur teeth. But ROcketmanTex has his recommended by hif girlfriend who is a dentist, and we know for a fact she wouldn't say that to him for a quick buck (or rendered service lol). Zoom has tons of negative reviews. It hurts for a few days, and that's fine by me, but everything I've read says you may have complications with it in 10-15 years if you have sensitive teeth. I have sensitive teeth, so when they say "will hurt anywhere between 10 minutes and 3 days", I'm going to be the guy who's screwed for a week. Does anyone else know the name of the treatment (the treys) Rocketman Tex is talking about?
the easiest thing, in my opinion, is to use the listerine with whitening mouthwash twice a day until the bottle is gone. it takes longer than any strips, but its way more convenient and less messy.
how does it compare with the crest whitestrips? hell, i guess if it works it works though? i've been looking for something a little easier on the teeth than the pain of white strips.
anyone try the crest whitening rinse yet? edit: positive reviews from amazon, strange things apparently grow in your mouth after each use. however, being that the vast majority of amazon reviewers are p*****s, we shall see where the 32 oz bottle that i just bought leads.
Strange things? I've used the 14-day crest white strips as well as whitening rinse. I typically use the strips only once a day though. Personally I knew the teeth were getting whiter, but not by a lot. Very soon I was getting a ton of comments about my whiter teeth. The strips definitely have a stronger effect than the rinse, but I feel using the strips on, then off, then on, then off every few weeks/months and using the rinse relatively continuously maintains a good white shade
that's cool. i don't doubt that the strips work, it's just whenever i use 'em, i get the shooting pain in the front teeth sometimes. the rinse is slower i suppose, but i've been using it for 2 days now and so far so good. nothing's overly sensitive, no pains. no mysterious growth on the back of my tongue lol. i took some before pictures though, so we'll see how the rinse does after 30 days.
For some reason my tongue started to burn after a few weeks with the rinse; not sure if it was related, unrelated, or had anything to do with the regular Listerine I'd use or a combination.
hit the tanning booth every day for a while. your teeth will look really white (just by comparison, but it doesn't matter WHY they look white, as long as they do..) no sensitivity! maybe a little skin cancer..or a lot..
I used ZOOM! and since then I brush my teeth 3 times a day with mouthwash and my teeth are still white. The afternoon brush takes care of the coffee and I haven't smoked for over 4 months. Stay tuned
Before you do anything else, try rinsing with Hydrogen Peroxide daily for a week. Cheapest, healthiest solution, and it works for me.
just not full-strength, lol. i've heard that stuff will rip your mouth apart after a while. granted, crest whitening rinse (or any whitening rinse) is essentially a "glorified" hydrogen peroxide, but it's watered down with other ingredients. be careful with pure hydrogen peroxide.
The hydrogen peroxide you buy in the drug store is 3%. Supposedly, it's really good for your gums, too.
I recently got my teeth whitened. I bought Crest Platinum professional from my dentist for $300. I only got very subtle results. Can't say I am too pleased. If you want to really whiten your teeth, you should go to this dentist Guy Lewis (the RPDs had theirs at his practice) or go to a Brite Smile location. For the side effects, my gums would be really sensitive and they hurt whenever I brushed my teeth. My teeth would hurt when I drank cold water or hot water.
strips work but they suck. They only do the lower 6 teeth so peopel can see the yellow teeth behind it. I did it with gel and trays made at the detist. i think i paid 250 and the paste is called opulecense.
The pack came with a fluoride toothpaste if you got teeth sensitivity. Mine was not too bad and got less and less as I used it more and more.
