thank you, why do smokers have to take a drag the second they are done eating? I smoked a few packs in high school (red's lights others in between) and I just don't get it. I chewed in high school and college off and on but I would go weeks without doing it at times and never had a craving but yet folks can't go ten min without a smoke?

If it were up to me they would be against the law since it's so harmfull but if that was impossible I would have them baned every place except certain smoking only areas and trust me there would be a huge tax on those things (15 bucks a pack) and a huge fine (250 first time) for smoking in a non smoking area.

For all the non-smokers if you see someone lighting up than tell them to put it out if they don't then tell the bartender (he will have to tell that person to put it out) if they refuse you can either take matters into your own hands or sue the hell out of the bar.

I know most of the owners at the places I frequent. They all plan to enforce the ban. The fact of the matter is that most patrons of the places I go support the ban and are very anxiously awaiting its implementation. Bar owners don't want to anger the majority of the patrons, so it will be enforced.

Is it too much to ask to not have to breathe in second hand smoke and have all your clothing stink? Smokers can still smoke, they just have to go outside. Pretty simple, really. What people should do when spotting a smoker is to take their cig and burn a hole through their $200 pair of jeans. Consider it a form of non-smokers' reparations for all the years they had to endure the selfish act of smoking in an indoor public place.

I would rather go to Gilley's than any bar in New York.

We'll see. I'm fairly certain I know most of the owners of the bars your speaking of, and I have heard the exact opposite.

I've always been a dick with my rights, and I plan on continuing.

Fatty, you will no longer have the 'right' to smoke indoors. I mean, at Red Door it's really easy, just go upstairs.

Please let me know what bar you typically go to. I'll be sure to find you.

As a former smoker, I was against the ban when they did it, but once I saw how pleasent it was to be in a bar and not stink of smoke at the end of the night, I actually liked it. And with increasing prices, both helped me quit smoking.

I think this is a good thing for Houston. Smoking is a disgusting habit and people shouldn't be forced to be poisoned because they want to enjoy the nightlife too. Smokers can smoke outside, and everyone can enjoy the air inside (gotta love that smell of old spilt beer).

One of the few times I agree with you TJ.

If it is up to the bar owners, then that may be incorrect.

For example, the City of Bellaire struck this ordinance down unanimously, even though White was trying to "urge" them to follow suit.

It's not up to the bar owners. That's the pre-Sept 1 framework.

No I have sat by silent for years dealing with it, I don't tell people to blow their smoke in the other direction nor do I go someplace and complain. What I have done is not go to certain places if it's terrible and now that it's gonna be baned I'll make sure nobody is smoking where I'm at.

What freaking bar in Bellaire do you hang out in, Fatty? Granny Edna's Cookie Factory and Billiard Hall???? :D :D :D

    Thanks for playing! ;)

Seriously, I was living in LA and smoking when the ban went into effect there in 1996 or 97. If the place had a patio, that's where you smoked. If it didn't, you stood outside the front door with 7 or 8 other people who were smoking just like you, and when you were finished, you went back inside. It was no big deal.

Fatty...one thing I can tell you is this: Lots of non smoking women will not date or have sex with men who smoke, and vice versa. I scored several times with women I met outside a club in LA who were out there smoking just like me. It increases your likelihood to score, cuz the chick already knows you smoke and is OK with it. Trust me on this one! :D

With your lack of tolerance and derogatory posts defaming smokers I really don't value your agreement.

    true dat, smokers date smokers.

When I started dating my current girlfriend she said she did not smoke but then I found out she was lying and smoking at times when she went out with friends. I told her either the cancer sticks or me and she stoped.

I would never touch a woman who smoked, I would rather her do blow
