    I agree on that

Combine and pro days will both be extremely critical

    1. He needs to show off size
    2. He needs to show of a great-elite arm

Especially considering what Clowney is bringing to the table

Brohm struck me as a guy with no balls

    He was lacking something

Brohm was a part of a long line of Petrino qbs that sucked in the NFL. Id be worried if Bridgewater is from that line, not the case though.

I really think it comes down to those two for the Texans. The Combine is going to be huge. And not just 40 times. The interviews will be big.

I think Clowney having Swearinger on the team as a friend and having experience with the new strength and conditioning coach will help him out a lot in the interview process.

I think being the most talented player in this draft by a long shot will help him out a lot. But those other things certainly don't hurt.

    Agreed

Clowney is the once in a generation freak

    Bridgewater the taller Russell Wilson

    Would love to have both...

Clown3y can't even bend...Sure he's an all world athlete, but his pass rushing skill set is unimpressive at best. If you can't bend in the NFL, rushing off the edge is much more difficult. NFL grade tackles can handle speed if there is no bend.

The thing is, he is such a combination of raw explosiveness, strength and speed it won't matter. He is an even more refined rusher than Mario coming out

Well that's an interesting opinion, but I think I give more credibility to the literally everyone else who thinks otherwise.

I'm not sure how someone can actually watch considerable amounts of game tape on Clowney and come away saying "his pass rushing skill set is unimpresive at best".

show me one source that says clown3y can "bend"...

    didn't think so.

in fact, it's well published that he's not that kind of pass rusher.

he's no where close to the best pass rusher in this draft. if the texans want to go defense, be smart and trade down and draft Khalil Mack.

They would have to find a trade partner to move down and there may not be one.

I would not be against this move. Either Mack or Barr.

I've seen other sources question his technique. Seth Payne commented on his lack of technique today on the radio. What he has is natural talent that can't be taught. He has not had to use technique thus far in his career. He'll have to adjust in the NFL because he isn't going to be able to just out physical talent everyone. This is one thing that caused severe frustration with Mario. If he couldn't beat a guy with right off the bat he often gave up on plays.

Draft Clowney, Draft a qb in the 2nd, and open up competiton between my boy Case and whoever they draft.

Listening to Cosell's take on the QB's, I have to say it was a bit jarring. To have no QB's worthy of top 10 picks will make me reconsider whether or not to just get on the Clowney bandwagon instead. Good thing my opinion doesn't matter!

That being said, his physical words on Bridgewater seemed to be the most complimentary of the three. Had nothing bad to say except that the arm talent may not be there. "Adequate" but not "outstanding" for a QB reminds me of Alex Smith. That being said, neither Brady, Russell Wilson, nor present-day Manning have cannon arms and probably are below average by NFL standards.
