i think bridgewater's game is like big ben with a weak arm. looks slow when he runs but make yards. has the size to make passes out of contact.

lol next year draft class might be insane if Hundley stays as well you are looking at 2 special qb prospects( Winston, Mariota) a great one in Bridgewater, and another with great potential in Hundley Texans should should focus on O-Lineman this draft, and get a qb next year
Isn't he supposed to graduate this semester? Seems odd that a potential #1 pick wouldn't declare when he's already graduated. I know you can go to grad school and still play if you have eligibility remaining, but really, what's the point? If he does go back to school, it will make our decision a lot easier. Would pretty much be between Clowney and Barr then.
I'd rather take Jadeveon Clowney and put him opposite jj watt. Bridgewater is the best QB available, but he isn't even the best in college football. If you want a QB you have the next 3 or 4 rounds to get one. A number 1 overall pick is a once in a career thing for many GM's. You absolutely MUST draft the best available player/long term prospect. That player absolutely MUST be a franchise caliber player.
Are you talking the best available player or the best athlete. Because if it is athlete then I give it to Clowney hands down. His quickness on the line is amazing. But that doesn't make him the best available player. 3 sacks all year, 350 college players have more sacks then him. Tackles aren't much better. Sure opposite Watt he will do better, who wouldn't. Watching film he is amazingly quick. He makes college Olinemen look like boys on how quick he gets around them. But it it's easy to negate him. Just run to the other side. He rarely chases to the opposite side. Even that you could overlook if he looked like he was playing hard every down. But he doesn't. And then there's the issue of just not playing when he has a little nagging injury. Maybe the injury was legit maybe his effort is based on not wanting to kill himself before he gets the big contract. But you still have to ask yourself is this the type of character you want to waste on a #1 pick. I can overlook a speeding and even a disagreement with the head coach, provided he leaves everything on the field. Clearly Clowney hasn't. He looks too amazing at times to disappear at others. Many times in the same game. He may have more God given talent than JJ Watt but he will never be the player. Or at least it is very doubtful. Bridgewater and Clowney are the opposite. Bridgewater leaves his heart on the field. Bridgewater is scheduled to graduate early and still is considering returning , Clowney missed practice, games and class. Clowney would have preferred to go straight to the pros from high school. He's a real show me the money player. My experience is people rarely change. Once Clowney has his big contract it is more likely he will be even less motivated to put out the effort until his next contract year. Clowney is the type of player who gets GM's fired not Bridgewater. If it's not going to be Bridgewater please don't let it be Clowney.
Yes I prefer Barr over Clowney. But is Case really the answer. If you think not than how can you pass up the best QB in the draft. If you thought he might be available later in the draft than perhaps you could trade down. But he won't be. Just go to the Jaguars board. Theyare happy they are winning but sick they are losing Bridgewater. They are hoping because McNair talks about how we are not rebuilding that he might want to go after an experienced QB like Cutler and pass on Bridgewater. They are even trying to convince themselves Johnny football could be good. If we win out and lose out on Bridgewater then I take Barr and go after a QB with our second pick. But if Bridgewater is there I don't see any other choice. Keenum has to play phenomenal these last 3 games and we win all 3 for me to think otherwise.
I not really interested in any QB other than Bridgewater. Maybe Bortles if he slips, but I'm not sold on him either. If you draft a QB in the 2nd, you may not be making a #1 investment but you're still making a time investment. You're still going to give them a couple of years to develop. And the likes of Mettenberger, McCarron, Boyd, and Murray don't excite me. I'd rather us not waste our time. I'd rather wait and have one of the QBs that should be available in the 1st next year, regardless of where we pick, than any of them. Pick up a vet, roll with Keenum, try to fix Schaub, whatever. Maybe you take a flier on one at the top of the 4th since we've come to not expect production out of that pick anyway, but I probably wouldn't spend a 2nd or 3rd rounder on any of the QBs that will be available, possible exception for Bortles.
Here is how I see it, Bridgewater, Clowney, Barr, or even Matthews. All these guys could be other worldly for the next decade. I'm not going to get bent out of shape over which guy the Texans take. I have concerns over scrambling QBs staying healthy, especially when the have ballerina legs, but I won't fault them for drafting Bridgewater. They must draft a QB. Period.
Bridgewater could end up being another VY...i'd rather get an O or D lineman or cornerback....there are no "no brainer" QBs in this draft and with the failure of 1st rd QBs common...i'd rather not go that route.
What? Why on Earth would you post that? One was a huge, sub-average passer, zone read running QB and the other an average sized, precision passing, pro style QB known since high school for his grasp of the offensive scheme and reading defenses.
So many people on here are giving their "expert" opinion after one espn clip from a "Mike and Mike"/"PTI" level show. For those that think Bridgewater is the next "VY", you have not watched him play. For those that think he can't read a defense, you have NOT watched him play. For those who think Barr is a good pick, see Brooks Reed(So raw, I see bust all over him. ) Understand, for the most part, an NFL draft is a crap shoot. 33% of NFL rosters are undrafted free agents. Number one picks usually do not have hall of fame careers, and these experts miss as much as they hit. I think we can all agree, that our quarterback situation in Houston sucks, and we should draft the best one with our pick.
