The combine is really going to make or break his #1 overall odds. I've seen him listed anywhere from 195lbs to 220lbs. Being at least 220 when the combine rolls around will be crucial. Anything under 220 will worry coaches & scouts. I'm pretty sure he's closer to 6'2 1/2". Also, hand size will be big. With the specualtion that he needs to wear a glove on his throwing hand for grip, he'll need to measure out in order to lay those concerns to rest. I have a hard time seeing his hands being more than 9.25", which is comfortably on the small side for starting QBs. Basically, I think he'll measure out similarly to Geno Smith(6'2", 218lbs, 4.6 40, 9.25" hands), though I believe Bridgewater is the much better prospect due to his footwork & pocket presence.
All this size stuff is just stupid. He only lost 2 fumbles in 3 yrs of college. I see no problem with his hands and the football doesn't get any bigger in the NFL. As for his height and weight he says his 6'3" and 220+. There is no evidence to say other wise. I do admit his legs are not huge but have you seen his arms and his neck. Plus he takes a hard hit and gets back up and plays better, as if it didn't phase him. In addition he just turned 21. He's still a kid. He has plenty of time to grow. Enough with all this size. People say he is a bigger Russell Wilson. But Matt Schaub is 6'5" and how did that work for him. Geno Smith can't hold his jock and size is not why. Watch more video of him.
His hands will be the first thing they measure. After watching many interviews where he is in street clothes and not wearing gloves, I believe his hands are large. He has very long fingers. Perhaps it's his preference to wear gloves.. ala Big Ben, Kurt Warner, or Tom Brady on occasion. I'm interested to see his weight as well.... I can find sources listing him in the range of 196-222. Gonna be a fun combine.
Would be a shocker but... <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Multiple sources tell me Teddy Bridgewater has contemplated returning to school. No decision has been made at this point</p>— John Middlekauff (@JohnMiddlekauff) <a href="https://twitter.com/JohnMiddlekauff/statuses/411543531535101952">December 13, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Multiple sources. He knows there is a very good chance of going number one overall, yet he's going to stay in school and risk getting injured, or have a bad year, and see his value drop? I'm not buying that at all.
Bridgewater would be crazy to stay at Louisville. That tweet's probably BS. He's less likely to be drafted #1 next year.
No way Teddy returns to school...absolutely no way. First, he's 80% the #1 pick...20% the #2 pick. You cant do much better than that. Second, if he goes back to school, then he will enter the draft along with Winston and Mariota...which will then be a complete toss up as to where they will go. Why even take the chance of being the 3rd QB taken...that could land you somewhere around pick 10+. Not to mention...by going back to school, you forfeit like 5 million dollars that you will never, ever, get back.
He didn't wear a glove in high school and he didn't fumble once. The football didn't get bigger from HS to college. He wore a glove in college from the onset and only lost 2 fumbles. I suspect someone told him to try and he like it and has worn it ever since. Not once has anyone that knows Teddy Bridgewater said his hands are small. One scout speculatd because he wears a glove his hands must be small. But you can look at his hands and see they're not small. I am not saying they are huge but he has taken the glove off at times and it seems to make no difference. He justhe seems to prefers them on. Maybe it does give him more control. He seems to throw a pretty good spiral so if that works for him wearing a glove I see no problem. It's not like gloves are banned in the NFL. And as I said whatever size his hands are he seems to have control of the ball and rarely fumbles. It's not like Keenum where players hit his arm and he fumbles.
That's a poor excuse...him going to the NFL does not inhibit him from getting a full education with a degree.
I wouldn't put too much stock in that tweet. He's scheduled to graduate early this spring. I think he would love to come back next year but his family needs money and he took out 10 million insurance policy in case he gets injured so I say it's very doubrful. He probably just told some friend he really wants to come back but in the end he has too many reasons not to. I would be really surprised if he doesn't enter the draft.
I agree. Maybe just some guy trying to get retweeted. You know all these rumors are going to be non-stop up until the deadline of these guys being able to fully commit or withdraw their names.
Cracks me up hearing this. Pay to receive a piece of paper or get paid millions to play sports? *shrugs*
You always need to take the money. You can always go back to school, only this time, with a nice apartment, tons of free time and a luxury vehicle.
