You're real cute, giddyup. I'm glad we have you and ted nugent to tell us about sticks and stones, etc. Hopefully his crusade to be able to use ethnic and racial slurs in polite society without condemnation will be successful, and then you can throw around terms like wetback, gook, and n-gger all you want.

"Riot Fuel" by Eightheadz, creator of Eightball Magazine

Laura Miller of Salon.com wrote "Political humor used to belong to the left, but that all changed in the 1990s, when the priggishness of political correctitude injected new vitality into a segment of the population that had been shut out of comedy's pantheon: assholes. Suddenly, a guy could flaunt his most petty and vindictive prejudices and still get to feel like a champion of truth and freedom. You could rail against "victimology" when, say, sexually harassed workers dared to resort to it, and then turn around and avail yourself of the same trend by claiming that a pack of censorious puritans was trying to shut you up. Without political correctness (and that's fading fast), a big chunk of what passes for contemporary American humor would be flapping in the wind."

Personally, I blame Archie Bunker. Half of the people that watched "All in the Family" knew they were watching a comedy. The other half thought they were watching the chosen one.
They looked at Archie Bunker like he was Morpheus coming to hand them a little blue pill and take them out of the Matrix.
I think of Laura Miller's quote every time I hear someone talking about "telling it like it is," or "shooting from the hip" or the ever popular "no spin zone". Although Laura Miller only wrote that barely a month ago, she put into words what I had been asking for years.
Exactly at what point did Mancow get in a position where he could actually believe that he is socially relevant or Bill O'Riely's O'Riley factor become anything more than Vince McMahon meets Meet the Press?
Ted Nugent, the right wing poster boy for killing things is in hot water for calling Asians "gooks" and blacks "n-ggers" on a live Denver radio show.
Even the guys that invited him on the show, Lewis and Floor from the wax morning show on 103.5 FM the Fox in Denver, who apparently are huge fans on Nugent's took him to task on the air.
Nugent's point was that these are only words and that they shouldn't mean anything.

Nugent is known as a guy that likes to "shock". . "He loves the reputation he has of being a shoot-from-the-hip kind of guy," said the shows producer, Kathy Lee a woman of Korean descent and apparently a Gook.
One fan took him to task for the terms on Nugent's Web site, and Nugent replied that political correctness "has brought America to its knees. Not me. NEVER!"
See what I mean? Since when did being an ******* make you sweet?
You know conservatives are in power when a white guy is insisting that he should be able to call black people ******s because it is only a word.
    Yeah right.
I can't think of a racial group that seems more genuinely pissed off that they can't openly refer to you in a derogatory manner than white people.
And it's not just limited to the word ****** either, they want to call everybody ****ed up ****.
I have never heard a Mexican pissed off because he can't openly call Asian/Black mixed children "Bumblebees". I don't see Jews pissed off that they can't call Mexicans "Chili-Sh-tters" to their faces but there isn't a white person that I know that hasn't at one point in time seemed genuinely bothered by the fact that they couldn't call a black person a -igger, even as a term of affection.
They hear blacks saying "that's my *****" or "What up *****?" both in affectionate contexts. If you ask me it seems like they feel left out or something.
Trust me. You want to be left out of this one. I say *****. I wish I didn't but I do. I can't stop. The **** is addictive.
Let me give you a hint. The only reason Nugent can say ****** and get away with it is because he doesn't know any.
And if it makes you feel any better whites did call *****s n-ggers for about 472 years unchecked. In fact, whites called them "n-gger" so much that's why they call themselves *****s to this day.
Sh-t got pounded into them so relentlessly it became the most all-purpose and addictive word blacks can say. Once you start saying ***** you can't stop. Trust me. When you can say ***** you don't have to bother to remember anybody's name anymore. Damn near everybody in the room answers to *****.
If you said in a room full of blacks, "hey, ***** close that window its getting cold in here", everybody's going to get up to close the window. If you said, "which one of you *****s farted?" everybody's going to answer, "It wasn't me."
It's hard to drop a word with that kind of power.
The only thing more f-cked up than a white person calling a black person a ****** is a German calling a Jew "firewood". You know what the Jew would do if a German called him "firewood" don't you?
    He would fire him.

I think I read this piece, too. So what! It's a super-critic's opinion.

Again, you are just EXAGERATION INCARNATE.

Did you find Ted anywhere saying he wanted to be able to use any of the terms indiscriminately? I don't think so. He just doesn't want to be prohibited from using them when others do and/or when the are accurate in their use. He's anti-PC whie you, apparetnly, were weaned on it.

If Ted's musical friends who are black don't mind him calling them *****', what's it to you?

I doubt one of his concert venues or a guest spot on a shock jock morning show would be considered "polite society."

    Keep digging. :D

    ... and stop exagerating.

I love how you like to pretend that I am the "PC Nazi" and "maniac" because I think its wrong to say "go kill a bunch of wetbacks" while you act like a complete jackass saying crap like maybe wetback means something different in Michigan, there's nothing offensive about it, and acting intentionally stupid in order to be provocative for laughs.

Now, this writer, who is black, doesn't want white dudes to run around and call him n-gger is a "super critic"? I can't believe the nerve of those testy super critical black people who don't like it when whites call them ******. What a bunch of PC pansies!

Wow, some of Ted Nugent's best (unnamed) musical friends are black! Sweet, and Strom Thurmond banged a black woman. Big deal.

Do these same musical friends let old Ted call them n-gger to their face, or refer to other blacks as n-ggers? I doubt he's ever had the balls to try, but I would guess not, he wouldn't want themm to be some of those "super-critic" type black folks. (in fact, in the article you posted, seems like mr. shoot from the hip ted called his alleged black admirer "sir", what a fairy. Practice what you preach, madman. Educate that black dude about how you should be able to call him a n-gger!)

Why is it so important to you to be able to use ethinic and racial slurs without criticism? Nobody is disputing Ted or your rights to use them, but we have the right to criticize you when you do.

Like the writer said, why are whites so obsessed with this? Do you just have an itch to talk about n-ggers, wetbacks, and gooks that you have to scratch? Why?

<b>Sam</b>: I wasn't aware that Ted addressed the author of the piece you cited with The N Word.... oh, that's right, he didn't!

I'm not being provocative for laughs. I prefer to make up my own mind after I've seen more of the facts than just cave in to your demand that I jettison any admiration for Nugent. Thanks but no thanks. Why are you so frustrated that you can't bully around my estimation?

The incident which Nugent described (and you mocked) in which a black man congratulated Ted on his guitar virtuosity and told him that one day he'd be able to play like "a *****'" took place when Ted Nugent was like 17 YO. Are you surprised that he was respectful to an older black man... whom he didn't even know?

    You're doing it again!

Sure you have the right to criticize anybody for anything. However, I think you should be more levelheaded and fairminded. I found almost all of your characterizations of Ted Nugent to be caricatures of the madman you want him to be rather than the man he is.

    We'll keep digging...

So it's ok to use nigg-r when you're not addressing anybody? So you would be ok with walking up to steve francis and saying, "Hey, a n-gger called me up and tried to sell me insurance today"? I didn't know that this was the caveat?

Fine, you weren't being provocative, then you are simply an idiot if you don't recognize the wrongness of the use of term wetback when calling for the murder thereof, especially since 3 or 4 other posters besides me explained it to you. I"m glad you finally admitted that you are an idiot.

I don't care about your estimation. You and Ted can chat about n-ggers, Wetbacks, and gooks all you want as an assertion of victimzed white malehood. Do whatever you want on your own time. And for the record, he's not a madman, he's a moron and an *******. And you're doing your best to match him step for step. Good for you and good night.

There is only one definition of the word wetback, and it has nothing to do with illegally crossing the border, but as a deragatory term towards all hispanic people.

It has never had another meaning, never.

    And I mean, never.

The word was created by racists, used by racists, and is the sole property of racists.

    Main Entry: wet·back
    Pronunciation: 'wet-"bak
    Function: noun
Etymology: from the practice of wading or swimming the Rio Grande where it forms the U.S.-Mexico border
    Date: 1929
sometimes offensive : a Mexican who enters the U.S. illegally

My print version of the dictionary carries no such definition. So, I was wrong about the origin of the term.

And following some research, I discovered there was even an Operation Wetback to combat illegal immigration, in the late 40s.

Of course, after that, the term evolved to be a disparaging term directed at all Hispanic peoples - and that is the context in which it has been used for the last four decades or so. And it has not been used in any other ways since then.

Perhaps I can be forgiven for not looking closely into the origins of a term which has been the favored term of disparagement for an entire people for nearly half a century.

And perhaps the makers of my dictionary can be forgiven for not putting in there a definition that had been defunct since the mid-50s. I don't have much use for anachronistic definitions of terms that have had such clear and obvious meanings for that long.

It's a term used to disparage everyone Hispanic. The people who use don't make distinctions between those who entered the country illegally, and those who immigrated with accordance with the law, and those who have been in the country since the early 1800s.

People don't use the term "wetback" to refer to simply illegal aliens - anymore than they use the term "spear chucker" to refer to people who throw spears - even though they both have had(past tense) those literal meanings. They use the terms to de-humanize an entire people and proclaim their inferiority. In the case of "wetback", the implication is that these people are dirty, poor, criminals, and they don't belong in our country; with "spear chucker" - it implies savagery and a lower level of humanity.

Both are racist, both are used exclusively by racists and have been for some time. When people use these terms it is not because they are referring to the past literal definitions, and it is not because they want to sow confusion over a possible double meaning - they do so because there is only one meaning to those terms, and they know it, and their intended audience knows it.

According to M-W, the term is dated from 1929; I don' tknow how you think you can drag it back to the 1800's with such certainty.

I don't think you are able to comment upon the intended use of the word by anyone who has ever uttered it. No one has that omniscience.

How do you explain Nugent's "reckless and wanton" use of the word when a member of his own band is Mexican?

Was there ever an Operation Spear-chucker?

BTW, I didn't even look up the dictionary definition until you so patently denied any practical meaning to the word. I knew the literal meaning of the word, which has unfortunately slid into being used as a term of derision and insult-- <b>but not necessarily so</b>.

I did no such thing. I was pointing out that those who use the term don't differentiate from those hispanics who've entered the country illegally, and those whose ancestors have been around for centuries.

Actually, yes. Necesarily so. It's been a derisive and insulting term for half a century

How could Ted Nugent use the term in its literal meaning, when the word had stopped being used in that context before he was out of diapers?

If Nugent has friends that he can use the 'N' word with, then he should use that with them, and not in public. That would actually be Nuge not being prohibited from using it, but at the same time being responsible about his use.

I'm sure Ted who preaches a thing or two about responsible use of weapons, knows something about responsibility. Yet his use of derogatory words go beyond 'not being PC' and into irresponsible use. I hate PC, but I also hate derogatory hateful terms tossed about. One can be ant-PC and be anti-racist terms at the same time.

He said they should kill those "wetback sons of b****es".

I don't see how you could argue that he didn't mean that in a negative way.

I didn't say he didn't mean it in a negative way. I defended SamFisher's extrapolation that he was talking about all Mexicans-- instead of just illegal aliens.

Ted is too theatrical but that doesn't make him a murdering racist. As he says in his own words, look at George Carlin or Chris Rock. They say unbelievable things all the time and get away with it.

I get frustratted when jackasses ramble on about how they should be able to use racial and ethnic slurs with abandon and without being criticized for four straight days without explaining why its so important to do so.

Again, I dare you to answer my question, which I have asked you three times now: Why is it so important for you and/or Ted Nugent to be able to refer to people as n-ggers, wetbacks and gooks without criticism?

Why won't you answer the question?
