Ice T was banned from something like 25 different cities around the country when he released that particular album. 2 Live Crew was arrested and jailed on obscenity charges because of a performance that included lyrics that were deemed offensive by the community. In fact, some record store owners were even arrested for selling 2 Live Crew CD's. This is not a Ted Nugent thing. If you want to take a historical perspective, many great R&B albums in the 60's and 70's were banned from "white" radio stations and "white" record stores. Nice hypothetical but I wrote this story in an earlier post but it seems to present what I am talking about. It goes as follows: I have a friend who is spanish and he was born in Mexico City. At age 5 his family moved to america. His father told the school to teach him in english and not to use spanish when communicating with him. He told me that it was very hard and many times he came home crying but after that he worked hard and had good grades and graduated from college. Now he is a successful businessman and he served for many years in the US military( Captain in the Army, retired). His words to me were," I am glad that my father did what he did because it allowed me to have the opportunity to be a success. Dennis: I see your point, but your friend is the exception rather than the rule. I wish we ALL had parents who knew how important our education is but we don't. For every kid like your friend, there are 1000 whose parents could care less.
