RIP and its too bad he won't be around to shephered health care reform through the Senate. I got the feeling he was trying to hang on to see that happen.
Part 1 of 6, but I'll just post the first <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ydHc-ExClqw&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ydHc-ExClqw&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> One of the great speeches in American history.
RIP Played a major part in passage of the Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights, Americans with Disabilities Act (I owe him A LOT for this) and Family and Medical Leave Act. He will be missed!
I'm sorry that the man died, but the good news is the state of Massachuesetts will have a 2nd Senator, though it might still take months to have a special election and have someone seated. The Senate has been missing 2-3 Senators for a while. There are some good reads on Yahoo about him.
Dude got away with murder, and the idiots in MA just let him represent them for decades based solely on the fact that he was a Kennedy. Talk about sheep. Good riddance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Jo_Kopechne
The Kopechne case is certainly dark part of his history but whether you politically agreed with him or not he did do a lot in his political career. I have a few friends who grew up on Cape Cod and I have heard many stories about Ted Kennedy's escapades but that is not the totality of life.
Not classy, but predictable. Same thing seems to happen every time no matter who dies. A few select members of the left pissed on Reagan's grave... now a few from the right take aim on Teddy's.
this guy was one of the most corrupt politicians of all time... may he RIP but have no respect for him.
The Reagan bashing in his RIP thread was mild at best. Men like Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond got a much more piss colored reception, however.
My wife did an internship in his office through U of H and said he was always nice to her and the other interns. She remembers fondly going to his big house on the Potomac for a lawn party.
Perhaps not, but name anyone not named "Kennedy" who would've been elected to anything after that debacle. The guy didn't even bother to mention the woman drowning until they found her body. Read up on it.
When Clinton dies, he'll get no bashing from me. I can't think of many Democrats that would. Ted Kennedy is a different thing, altogether. He is the exception.
Whomever the deceased is, I think it is only fair to pay respects when the person dies. Obviously that is relative opinion, even in our recent history there have been few shed tears for evil men who meet their maker. I've never been so disgusted by a BBS thread as I was when Reggie White died.
