Yeah. That's why I put "think" in quotes up above. It was a euphemism for "google furiously".

    .03? Nothing.

Someone that is over the limit and kills someone should be prosecuted exactly how it currently is. I've stated this before.

I don't know why I keep bothering in this thread. The juvenile comaraderie with you people makes any differing viewpoint pointless, really.

Kinda like DD arguing with a bunch of 12 year olds in the GARM.

Kennedy killed someone. He rode the coattails of his brothers and the family name.

If you can excuse that, it's on you. I wasn't a fan.

I apologize for saying good riddance, though. That was a bit out of line.

    The end.

Yes, you did it by pulling a paragraph from the internet about someone who I suspect you had never heard of. I venture to guess you have no clue what his role was in any of the issues mentioned in that paragraph, nor what bills he was involved in. I suspect you know none of that about Kennedy either except what was posted in this thread. And for some reason, based on basically no useful information, you feel qualified to make solid, unchangable opinions about those topics. Am I wrong here?

I've never known someone quite so proud of wallowing in ignorance. Truly fascinating, in a disturbing sort of way.

Ted Kennedy did author those things. Whether he actually typed them or not doesn't matter, but he did have those ideas, as many who have worked with him have testified. You have no evidence to argue to the contrary.

You made a claim that he didn't really author any of them, and provide nothing, zero evidence to back up your claim.

Earlier in the thread you said something to the effect that you didn't really know anything about Ted Kennedy, and you've gone on to prove that over and over again.

I mean the good riddance comment wouldn't have been horrible except that you thought it would be fun throw gasoline on a fire, and hope everyone looked at you, and thought what a maverick you were. Your hope is that people would say "Like Jim or dislike him, agree or disagree with him, he always spoke his mind, and didn't follow the pack."

I don't know if it would have worked on some folks or not, but you detract from that when you spew ignorant claims like this with zero evidence to back it up.

    The Greatest Senator
    by Fatty FatBastard

I think the greatest Senator of all time is John Calhoun. Lots of senators are colorful figures, but John C. Calhoun went way beyond that. To say that he was controversial is a huge understatement. John Calhoun strongly believed in nullification, the idea that a state could declare void any federal law it didn't like. I think this is a good policy. Suffice it to say, in his long career in the House, Senate, and cabinet, he was a staunch defender of states rights and slavery. Though slavery are bad, Calhoun's other policies were good. To a large extent, his legacy is the Civil War.

    The end.

Which is really kind of crazy

I mean, you would think, given your history (women and booze) and Kennedy’s penchant for skirt chasing and drinking, that you would be more of an admirer. Now granted you didn’t get blasted and kill anyone (yet) but it sounds like Kennedy would be someone right up your alley; so to speak.

So were your rants against his senatorial record.

There was no need for that.

What I dont get is that most people have put in the caveat that while they appreciate and support all the work Kennedy did, the incident where he killed someone was deplorable. It's ok to acknowledge his good work and criticize his shortcomings.

However, in your case you critcize his shortcomings (perfectly legitimate) but then do everything you can to pretend he also did nothing in the senate during his time there. You arent even providing evidence or any sort of warrants, you're just making circular arguments.

Just seperate his personal life (which had many many problems) from his time in the senate for a second and acknowledge the distinction. that is all.

First, how can nothing work for anything?

    Second, Prurient?

While that may apply to some Congressmen and perhaps more than a few Republican Congressmen, I don't think all get into Congress to pursue prurient interests.

Brilliant political analysis. And here I always thought it related to Article II of the Constitution. Doh!

    Quit digging.
