You say that like it's a bad thing? But I wasn't asking you anyway.

We've become as ass-backward as was Mississippi and Alabama were when I was growing up during segregation. Here's hoping Cruz takes his lying ass back to Canada.

Well, for a long time a surplus of available cheap land close to/within major population centers has probably been the biggest draw. Try to find a house (that doesn't suck) for under a half a million dollars in - or even within a few miles of most non-Texas major cities. I'm not just talking New York and LA/SF - but really most places with any economic upside. DC, Boston, Portland, Seattle, San Diego, Chicago, Philadelphia whatever - it just can't be done. Period.

Of course this goes boom and bust too, like the oil patch.

Are you implying DC, Boston, Portland, Seattle, San Diego, Chicago, Philadelphia went bust?

You're talking out of your ass. As usual.

No true hipsters can afford Williamsburg/Greenpoint anymore - that scene moved to Bushwick and points east starting about 5 years ago.

And really there's nothign that's decent for under 1mm there for the new buildings, though you can probablay get a rathole that needs a lot of work in a bad location maybe? I don't know.

I'm pretty much implying the exact opposite.

You're on a different plane, as usual.

    And good lord, Lowry

Im not that surprised. Cruz mastered the rules but coudnt overcome his own innate repulsiveness. Its amazing he got this far.

Money and weather. Texas could end up like Virginia if enough transplants move in.

A 800 square foot condo in wburg will run you starting at $800k anywhere near a train line - starting.

For $500k you can get something in white plains or something way off the train line (as in you'll be taking a bus to get to the subway to get to work).

is the reason why you're talking about real estate prices because you can't stay on-topic with the thrashing Ted Cruz and his beliefs have just received from the American people

People from other states are moving to Austin, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio but those aren't the cities electing the likes of Ted Cruz.

I've met a lot of Austinites (sp?) who seem at pains to point out "it's not like Texas".

tbh, decent tech scene + no state taxes is aight though

I'd be curious to see the flow from rural areas to urban areas and vice versa across the United States, that seems more indicative of "election by migration".

To be fair, there's a whole lot of other great parts of Texas that say "Thank god".
