TECH QUESTION: Best Way to Print from USB non Network Print

    TECH QUESTION: Best Way to Print from USB non Network Print
    without attaching it to a computer.'

    A Friend I am helping use to have an old WinXP computer
    It's sole purpose was to be the network connection of her printer
    Well . .. it died
    Rather than try to buy a new computer
    I was wondering what would be the best alternative

    They have ATT
    Unsure if connectiing it USB directly into the ATT Router is the way to go

    Why can't she just plug it in directly to her current computer?

    The router may or may not support printer sharing but yes that's an option. In all honesty though, I'd probably just buy a cheap printer with a network card and either hardwire it to her ATT router, or if it has wi-fi, just connect it to that.

    She has moved on to all Laptops
    and wants to print to this printer


    She has other printers already . . .. four in all
    Two of which are wireless already but she likes to have back ups to the back ups
    and doesn't want to 'waste' this one . . . .
    the word 'frugal' comes to mind

    I have explained several times that it is unnecessary
    that buying all those different inks is more expensive
    etc etc etc
    But to no avail. So I relented and told her I would look into it.
    I have searched the net and this is me looking into it

    Agreed, nothing worse than a friend with unconventional and burdensome printing habits. Whenever I meet a potential new friend one of the first things I ask is for them to describe thier current printing setup at thier home.

    If it were me I would just ask my secretary to print it. Not that hard.
