I have a Netgear 4300. POS. Anyway, I rebooted the cable modem (disconnected the power and cable; restarted the router afterwards) once and the same thing happened to me... I couldn't connect to the internet. I rebooted the cable modem a second time (same process: disconnect power and cable, and restarted the router after) and then everything worked. I don't know why... but give it a shot.
That actually did the trick, thanks and repped! I'm still only getting around 65 down over wifi as opposed to 100+ wired, so I'm probably still going to upgrade to the Asus that was mentioned before. Thanks again.
Is there another Asus router as reliable as the RT-N66U, but cheaper? I'm in a small apartment and don't need maximum range. I suspect my Dlink DR600 is giving me connectivity issues and after spending a lot of time messing with settings I'm thinking of just replacing it with something solid.
What about the ASUS N56U... you can get it for around $88 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-wireless-router-ieee-802-11n/3194853.p?id=1218384139126&skuId=3194853&st=asus%2056&cp=1&lp=1
