Yes. Had Kansas won the regular season title playing in the South, I would change my opinion. Going into the tourney, we were a lock for a #1, and one loss (the only bad loss of the year) shouldn't take it away, especially only a week after beating OU on their home court.
But certainly losing to Tech wasnt a good step for Texas entering the tournament. I dont think it was a devastating loss, but it hurt them a bit going into a tourney they think they can win. Having the #1 was a gift, but I dont see them getting past the Sweet 16. Wanna make a friendly wager??
Absolutely on the wager. I think the loss could be great for them. They didn't have a blowout loss all season long (the 13 point loss to Colorado was due to a 13-0 run in the last 90 seconds), and I'm guessing this was the slap in the face that they needed to get them running on all cylinders for the tourney. Of course, I still disagree that the #1 was a gift. Hell, I almost believe that any team that goes the last 16 minutes of a game without a field goal probably shouldn't get a #1, and KU only made it one more round than we did.
I agreed earlier about TT getting robbed, but... I think Rice got robbed from the NIT... Winning 19 games and having a tougher RPI than most of the field in the NIT, let alone having some sub-par .500 teams in that tourney b/f Rice... come on...
I will wear an orange Texas shirt all day the day after UT advances past the Sweet 16. You will wear a Red Texas Tech shirt all day the day after UT loses in the tournament. Loser must purchase his own shirt. Have to have a picture taken that night wearing the shirt at a local sports bar of choice by the winner. Champps on Beltline if you lose. Public humiliation is always fun......
