Von Miller is a beast but Tebow outplayed Philip Rivers today. And that guy is pretty awesome.

That's half of why people hated him in college. The other half is that he played for Florida lol.

But that's not the answer to Sajan's question. At all.

He's asking why Tebow is taking so much heat now.

None of it is about his college days. If anything even his detractors preface things with "Tebow is considered one of the greatest college players of all time." No one is talking about him getting extra votes for the Heisman. Honestly there are basically 3 answers:

    1) People are zombie conditioned to be suspicious of Christianity. Tebow is an avowed Christian so he's hated until he can go above and beyond and prove he's a decent guy. Pretty much like being a Jew 50 years ago but reversed. It's people's inculcated bigotry. Nothing to cry about here. If they didn't hate Christians these lowlives would hate something else and blame **** on them: Muslims, blacks, gays, Jews, Chinese w/e. People need something to hate. Christianity is dangerous. Christianity causes wars. Christianity stops science etc. This covers pretty much everyone outside of football insiders who criticize Tebow. Guys like Bill Maher or Tosh who don't even watch Tebow and make generalities about him that aren't even true about him proselytizing on the sidelines etc.

    2) Football purists who think Tebow can't play QB. A lot of these are guys who have had to unfortunately already go on record that Tebow sucks like Hodge before they really got a chance to see him play. This is a much smaller group basically covers guys on ESPN and national media who dislike his play. A lot of these guys are backed into a corner at this point and have to ride this out hoping Tebow starts to lose.

    3) Militant black journalists like Steven A Smith who see a social angle to Tim Tebow's entitlement. They consider Tebow a "black quarterback" who happens to be getting special consideration because he's white (a dude on Around the Horn actually called him that). It's a rehash of the Slave Mentality. People are not responsible for their own actions and destiny but controlled by "The Man." And Tebow is getting breaks that a brotha can't sniff. No one tell them that Vick has $40 million guaranteed. Obviously this group is tiny... probably a couple hundred journalists total but they all seem to work at ESPN lol.

Miller and Doom are both good. I wouldn't say Tebow outplayed Rivers. Rivers was just really ****ty. He basically gave the game away and took his team out of field goal range.

Tebow actually led them on 3 consecutive drives at the end of regulation and overtime. 2 of the drives were overturned after review in the booth which negated first downs and resulted in punts. Obviously the last one yielded a FG which won the game. Neither team could score and SD's defense didn't look good today, Tebow had 10 seconds in the pocket every time. Probably 20 other NFL quarterbacks would have blown out the Chargers today if they played in stead of Tebow.

Not sure what your definition of "outplayed" is, but mine is this.

If one guy plays better than another guy, he outplayed him.

Broncos with Tim Tebow in how they're winning games is like BARELY better than Texans winning with TJ Yates.

Winning with defense, and scaling things down with the QB not doing anything TOO stupid. Even if it is only 25 yards offense per quarter

I think the thing most of his critics are struggling with right now is that he made some really damn good throws in this game. NFL caliber throws, and it seems like he is getting better. Whether that is true or not, I don't know, but I did see the throws and was surprised myself. Same for VY today. He made some damn good throws.

At the end of the day
people have a very limited scope
they want to cubbie hole everyone

Which is why so many STATUEST QB PROTOTYPES get drafted
    and then become complete busts

If you have 'the right build, height, weight'
Then you have 'all the tools'
They want you . . and root for you to succeeed
and will do any and everything to make it seem like you are

    but
    If you different
they do everything to make it seem like you not
even if you are not . . .

Tebow and Vy maybe the latest but it is not new
    Look what Flutie went through . . . .
but he didn't have the arm
    he was not tall enough
    blah blah blah

he was not all world but he belonged in the league

All of those things occured in this college days, too. Its total carryover.

I also think its people that represent for anything hardcore, either they appeal or they can be a bit polarizing. Guys who have to send love back to "the hood" in everything they do, that can be annoying. Same thing with religion. Its that in religion they have worked-in license to ADVOCATE all the time. Even when its not necessary.

Everyone knew Hakeem was a devout Muslim, though he didnt make a big scene of it.

    Bingo...

Praying to win a football game is pathetic.
God having anything to do with a football game is pathetic.

I don't get the big deal about Tim Tebow being religious. He is not the first player to thank god during an interview and he is not the first NFL player to pray after every TD.

    Get over it

True. No one has a problem when Ray Lewis does it.

I'm not a big Tebow proponent, but there's a huge difference between thanking your god for blessing you with the ability and opportunity to play football (or do anything, really), and praying to win games. I've never see him pray for, or thank god for getting a win. It's always for the opportunity to do what he loves.

Not that it really changes anything. People hate that too.

Yeah, why do teams keep searching for prototype QB pocket passers?

    Signed,
Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees.

and Ryan Leaf, Chris Simms, and a bunch of other QBs drafted along with those.

BTW - Brees does not fit that Prototype QB mold. He is on the short side, if i recall. One of the 'knocks' on him.
