He should go. If he did drop to a mid-second rounder he could be a stellar back up and long term heir apparent without toooo much expectation placed on him. He would make his money on his second contract; even if he is just a top #2. The best fit could be behind Rothlesberger or "lord, have mercy" behind Tony Romo...... Tim Tebow, America's Quarterback. (Jerry Jones redeems his mortal soul)
Maybe, though that could be some talk just to get him on campus for another year. Maybe Tebow can enroll in a ballroom dancing class his last year. And for completion he takes home any dance partner of his choice. Or Tebow should keep his girl and not have a girlfriend from the women's basketball team though...
Oh the poor Longhorns. You know what will come back to bite them in the rump next year? Their pathetically weak non-conference schedule. If USC, Florida and UT-Austin all go undefeated, don't expect to see the horns in the championship game.
Poor, poor bigtexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Getting in your petty little potshots before the inevitable happens. You a history major by chance, biggytexxx? If so, maybe you've seen this before: Texas comes back in the final minute of a BCS game to defeat a Big Ten powerhouse and finish the season 12-1. Meanwhile, Oklahoma flames out in the national championship game. The following season, behind a tremendous quarterback, Texas sweeps through the regular season undefeated and advances to the Rose Bowl to play the BEST TEAM EVER with their untouchable Heisman-winning quarterback. Hmmmm......where is the National Championship game being played next year? I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Rose Bowl. I'm not saying, bigtexxx, but I'm just saying..... By the way, here is Florida's non-conference schedule next year: Charleston Southern, Troy, Florida International, and Florida State. Shaking in your boots yet? Sure Florida State could be good. They could also be the slightly above average team they've been the past 2 or 3 years. I agree that Texas' non-conference schedule next year is incredibly weak. But it's not as simple as saying they are dodging top opponents. Arkansas dropped out of the two game series so that they could play the Aggies. Utah backed out of a series a few years ago because Urban Meyer (as their coach) was afraid the schedule would be too tough. So, you're right- there is no room for error next year. But, if I were USC, I probably wouldn't take OSU (as in Oregon State) or Stanford very lightly for the third straight year.
Here's something you've also seen before: I correctly called the Florida/OU bcs championship game after UT-Austin choked their nutz off and lost to Mike Leach's very average Tech squad. UT-Austin's non conference schedule is a joke, and the conference schedule might not be very tough, either, given that the Big XII will be down next year (and that's from a pretty average level this year...). So enjoy the Sugar Bowl, horns, hopefully you'll get past Boise St
hmmm tinytexxx. If any of the top 5 teams goes undefeated (assuming Ou drops out of top 5) then you can pretty much say that each team deserves going to the NC game. And I expect the horns, just because the BIG12 is down next year and I think the SEC is going to give Florida challenges. I dont know about your delusional views... but Ill take an undefeated season any day regardless of how weak the SOS may be
LOL @ people predicting "what ifs" based on undefeated seasons and strength of schedule before the season begins. If watching college football year after year teaches you anything, it should be two things: 1) an upset loss at some point in the season is the rule, an undefeated season is the exception; 2) predicting SOS preseason is fruitless (remember when Georgia was ranked #1 preseason, Ohio State #2, and Mizzou and LSU top-10 teams? LOLOLOL) - schedules that look unbearable preseason can become easy in hindsight, and vice versa.
you predicted that? Damn you're amazing. What a badass. Did you have some inside source, how did you do it?
Is it that crazy to guess that maybe this guy DOESN'T want to play in the NFL? I mean, i think he already knows hes going to have to work ridiculously hard and wait a loooooong time to actually get playing time consideration. And for some reason, it doesn't seem that football is his life's calling. He seems to be that guy who is really good at one thing, but wants to do something else for the rest of his life. I know after the Ole Miss loss he said that he will work harder than any player in the nation, but that seemed more of a testament to his drive to be successful in his endeavors and to man up to his mistakes. It really didn't seem like a demonstration of his love of the game or anything else. From the look on his face and the tone of his voice, it was like he was the prodigy son who got a B in school and he was apologizing to the gator nation as if they were his parents! He is projected to be a third round pick, at best, after winning the Heisman once, being a Heisman finalist this yr and winning the NC. In his senior yr, even if he wins the NC again and gets another Heisman, do you seriously see NFL scouts wasting a draft pick in the 1st or 2nd rounds on him??? I honestly don't think so. He hears the criticism about how his game will translate to the NFL just like the rest us do. He seems like a level-headed guy who's not in it for the fame or the money. And I think he knows that he can do so much more with his life than waiting behind a Roethlisberger or whatever for years.
Thanks man. No inside source - I just knew that OU would whip Tech and climb above the horns in the polls
That's hilarious... Honestly, I don't care, but why risk injury...he isn't a first rounder and I doubt another year will change that...
Because he's a first rounder is exactly why he is coming back. Though it is highly doubtful he'll raise his stock much in the next year, the one opportunity he will have is that our new QB coach has NFL experience (compared to our old QB coach who has only college experience and is still relatively new to coaching). Beyond that, he's just the type of kid that loves competing and being in college. I'm guessing that for the sake of his own happiness, he'd rather be out on the field competing for another NC than holding a clipboard for the next couple years at minimum. He also has the chance to break some pretty meaningful career records (total SEC career rushing TDs, and total NCAA career TDs).
