Thomas Jefferson obviously had some unbelievable accomplishments and it would be foolish to lambast him (too much), but he is proof that great men are capable of bad things, or of hypocrisy....whatever. "All men are created equal. Except my slaves, of course." In the case of newspapers, Jefferson used the media to print scurrilous lies about John Adams to help sabotage Adams' re-election. (Guess who became President instead?) So, I guess Jefferson would know firsthand that newspapers can print b.s. Perhaps. But I'm glad that somebody finally kicked one of these doorknobs in the nuts. "That................is why you fail." --- Yoda FOX has been doing this for.......how long away was FOX News started? You don't have a problem with them.
I understand what you are saying about he has different standards as President Just in general do feel a President should never defend his or herself if he/she feels the press has been unfair
I'm not saying that it is or isn't their job to police or if it was a shameful attempt at exploiting a kid on the internet who posted something he shouldn't have. And uncovering his name WOULD HAVE been in poor form. What I am saying is that there should be outrage from other "news" outlets who exploit private citizens all the damn time, and the person who made this poster political fodder, Donald J. Trump. CNN would have never contacted him, had Trump not made the poster a story. I mean come on... Trump posted a gif that came from a poster who has a history of anti-Semitic posts.. did Trump NOT think that CNN and others would take the opportunity to link Trump to him, and depict him as someone who traffics this type of garbage? My point is getting angry at CNN here while totally glossing over the fact that Trump himself made this poster a story is like blaming the baseball for hitting the batter while giving a pass to the pitcher who threw the ball.
There is negative press and there is rape and cheating allegations. The press ran with both stories in an irresponsible manner. That may not justify his actions but can't be ignored when discussing his relationship with the press
You keep referring to false rape and cheating accusations against Trump... which accusations? The ones he brought on himself bragging on tape to Billy Bush? The sexual assault and harassment accusations from numerous women? Or the accusations from his first wife? And cheating accusations? Which ones? Those related to taxes? Past business related accusations? The still being investigated election? Seems someone that was leading the birther charge against the previous President should not be so sensitive about accusations, but whatever...
In a quick google, you find a wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump_sexual_misconduct_allegations), along with... https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/01/donald-trump-scandals/474726/ http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na...sed-donald-trump-of-1485012864-htmlstory.html http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...user-slams-women-day-tweets-article-1.2992178
I'm sure its all true The evidence of it all being bs is that it all disappeared Edit: I stopped reading after the first accusation being an inappropriate kiss Dude is running against first legit female candidate and gets accused of rape
I don't agree with that. As long as it's not inciting violence, harassment, or terroristic threats to people/individuals, expression should be allowed even if it is disgusting behavior.
The reddit user made the gif behind an anonymous username. CNN digging into that user's post history and identifying him is the problem. That user is not a public figure and did not release that gif under his real identity. Like fchowd0311 said, other media channels would have merely reported on the username, not try to actively expose the identity. That's unethical to do towards a private citizen.
If reading the Declaration of Independence immediately makes you think it's a shot at the guy you voted for, you voted for the wrong guy.
It's far more likely as a middle aged man likely has a job, family, etc that he's looking to save from embarrasement or job loss. Although a 15 year old still has a lot to lose by being outed as a little racist Trump troll. So could be anyone that obviously thought they were safe behind the wall of the keyboard and computer screen. It's just another lesson that "the internet". Is written in ink. Don't say anything you wouldn't say in public... at least not anymore.
I clearly didn't say that it was right what CNN did here. I'm merely pointing out that it was Trump that launched this private citizen into the air of public scrutiny so it makes no sense for Trump fans to go after CNN's shameless attempt at blackmail while Trump is the one who put him in harms way to begin with. Also... do you really think FoxNews and co wouldn't do this too???? Really??? The same FoxNews who exploit people like Seth Rich's family for conspiracy theories to aid the presidents agenda? Come on man.
Dobro, I think this is a rather tough one. CNN is making themselves look petty here. I think Fox News is better than CNN in understanding public opinion better. CNN seems to be tone deaf to these type of things. They would have used this opportunity to connect a genocide supporting redditor to the president if this was Obama. They wouldn't care much about the redditor himself. They would say that Obama supports the comments by the redditor because he posted work done by the same redditor and hammer that point for a solid month.
With all due respect, pgabriel, that is absolute BS. trump was the beneficiary of countless tens of millions of dollars of free coverage from CNN during the campaign, and to say it was "24 hour negative coverage" proves one of two things. Either you rarely watched CNN during the campaign, and got whatever is your basis for this false accusation from Fox or Brietbart and their wannabes, or you are simply not telling the truth. Time to wake up and smell the coffee, because what you posted doesn't pass the smell test, with all due respect. I watched CNN a lot during the campaign and your statement is simply untrue. It is "fake news." Now that Mr. trump is in office, he has spent an inordinate amount of time attacking the mainstream media. Spewing lies damn near nonstop from the toilet or wherever he tweets from, when he should be busy being President of the United States. Lies about the media, and lies about a host of important things. Given his constant assault on ANY media outlet that doesn't suck up to him, how can you be surprised that the same media under attack by the man, and this after they helped elect him, intentionally or otherwise, would do investigative reporting about all things trump? How can that surprise you? The news media is protected by the Constitution for a reason. That trump loves pissing on them and then gets upset about how he is treated says a hell of a lot about the man, and none of it good. Hey, you go on defending him, "Democrat." I hope it is worth the thrill it must be giving you, because it is playing Hell with your reputation here, in my humble opinion.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/may/23/how-much-does-cnn-hate-trump-93-of-coverage-is-neg/ The science is settled.
Free coverage? He was a legitimate candidate Right is right. It doesn't what party I claim. Your problem and many more people is you can't separate yourself from the party when evaluating rt right from wrong
is the press not supposed to report when multiple women come out and say a presidential candidate inappropriately touched them? and trump himself has bragged about cheating on his wives so im not sure why you refer to them as "allegations". dude bragged about sexually assaulting women and also spoke numerous times about how attractive he thinks his own daughter is and that if he was not her father he would be dating her and that the one thing he and his daughter have in common is "sex". he bragged about walking in on miss america contestants when they were changing. multiple miss teen america contestants said he walked in on them as well. multiple women came forward. what is wrong with you? all these snowflakes complaining about the medias treatment of trump is just too f***ing much. look at the way trump and fox and limbaugh treated obama for 8 years...they criticized him for the most stupid, petty crap...the way he walked off the plane with a "bounce" in his step, the fact that he sometimes did not wear a tie, complained about how much golf he played (if thats not the pot calling the kettle black i dont know what is). trump was the leader of the birther movement...yall even criticized michelle obama for trying to get kids to eat healthier...trump repeatedly attacked the press at rallies to the point that they had to have police escorts back to their vehicles to protect them. trump called the press the "enemy of the people"...and now yall snowflakes whine about how the media treats trump...what a bunch of f***ing hypocritical whiny babies yall are.
Interesting... Senator Rubio tweeted scripture that seems to advise folks against debating Trump and his supporters...
