I don't disagree with you at all that for the amount of bullshit and stress and danger they're underpaid when compared to safer jobs that pay more. But the economic fact is that supply/demand dictates pay. And since we're seeing a shortage, we will see pay increase.
That sucks, people in Texas need to vote better representatives into office. The minimum wage in Chicago right now is $13 an hour and teachers are making $35-45 an hour.
Unfortunately, it takes this for people to start waking up... I deal with CEO's, CIO's and other people with ego's and attitudes and that still does not compare to what teachers put up with.... T_Man
Just curious, where did you get this from? I'm in my 10th year as a high school teacher and have never know anyone who left for any of those reasons. The only reasons i have seen are money and just being tired of dealing with kids/parents.

Ruminating on this a bit, I'd say 99.8% of most teacher's jobs are very tranquil and fulfilling if they have the right mindset. Dealing with most of the parents is fairly easy if you know how to deal with difficult people. What my wife has problems with is the personal tragedies of the kids in poverty and/or abusive households. Some of it is truly horrible. I asked my wife to stop telling me the details. To a point. I worked in prisons & juvie institutions and I was way, way more nervous in juvie. Those kids are mad, have nothing to lose and aren't mature enough to deal with their feelings. Inmates and career criminals are more or less institutionalized and don't want to rock the boat.
Its part of the job .I just don't think Reeko should be so anti cop regardless of recent bad cop behavior. Regardless law enforcement is essential and we are starting to see shrinkage in their numbers. The number one reason we come together as a society is for protection. No it isn't unless you give the teachers the power to shoot the kids to make them stop behaving Cops have simple solutions to when they perceive danger and that's to unload a magazine of 9mm rounds into center of mass.
ops deal with criminals a lot more than the questionable. So much more that your statement is utterly ridiculous. That's not to mention suggesting teaching is more dangerous
I'm saying cops have an ultimate solution to their dangers. Unload mags. Teachers don't have that. They have to talk out things and understand social behaviors of children and don't have "stop b****ing button" or trigger like law enforcement.
Cops don't unload mags that much bro. Police shootings are rare. One of the issues in Houston and I'm sure most everywhere else is that cops do have to deal with the mentally ill especially when it comes to dealing with the mentally ill
