why are people still voting, it's clear there are idiots on both sides picking sides between the 2nd worst and worst teams in the league. Just don't pick either of them or go with a new one. Believe it or not neither one represents your interests, unless you're interested in getting taxed like crazy and going to wars you never signed up for.
Absolutely, its a waste of money and no where in the constitution is the federal government charged with controlling or funding the education of citizens (and don't say the general wellfare clause). And the name of that department is straight out of 1984. Absolutely abolish the EPA. Or at least severely curtail its reach to activities whose affects cross state lines. You let these faceless beauracrats thousands of miles away make decisions that affect your life, and you don't question it because it all falls under the auspices of protecting the environment. If there must be such controls (and I'm skeptical of any power grab), let them be as localized as possible. The state does not adequately enforce immigration laws. Declaring something illegal is not sufficient to stop the activity, there must be an enforcement mechanism. I wish we could all be left to our own devices to take care of ourselves and our family. But the state is constantly trying to confiscate more of our wealth and control more of our lives. "Not worrying", complacency, is what allows the state to grow and amass wealth and power. When people voice concern, you respond with thoughtless ridicule and sexual insults.
it seems like if people like you were in total control of everything and stripped this country down to nothing we could be a 3rd world country. or maybe im wrong.
And no where does it say in the Constitution that the government should have missile submarines so maybe we should get rid of those too.
I live a mile from the Mississippi in Minnesota. Where I am at both banks of the river are within Minnesota (also within the city of Minneapolis and Hennepin County) If I want to dump raw sewage into the storm sewage on my street that drains to the Mississippi not to far from my house, the drain also within the city of Minneapolis. In that point what I do in front of my house directly affects the water quality of Wisconsin, Iowa and states all the way down to Louisiana. Most environmental problems aren't limited to localities as water and air tend not to limit themselves to one location. Speeding is illegal yet most of us do it so in your opinion that we are lacking in an enforcement mechanism? Would you support more enforcement against speeding? Constantly? As noted in the video the current Admin. and Congress, and previous one, have passed tax cuts. Also part of what got us into the current economic crisis is deregulation of banking that happened in the late 90's.
Her particular SNL class had three or four avowed conservatives ("convert" Miller, Lovitz, her and possibly Carvey?), and I guess Spade and Norm McDonald are as well. Hammond might be also. Other than her landmark performances in "Casual Sex" and "Burglar," I'll always remember her news skit where she was a correspondent in Latin America and was making sure to say all the country names with the right accent. "Ni-ca-rrrra-gwah!"
You know, once she starts getting the inevitable work done, she's going to look a whole lot like ... Nancy Pelosi.
You're right. Venezuela doesn't have any of those services and you can easily bribe your way out of taxes. Perhaps Tea Partiers should move there.
" I uh...uhmmm.....uhmmmm...Socialism....agenda...and take away fishing....uhm I'm 65...no death panel....uhm...Go Tea party!!!
You are wrong, in 3rd world countries the state controls everything (Chavez, Mugabe, Kim Jong Il). I want exactly the opposite, a state powerless to do anything but protect you and your property, enforce contracts, and adjudicate disputes between parties. I want a neutered state, exactly the opposite of 3rd world countries. Provide for the common defense. Interstate disputes would need to be handled by the feds. But the reach of the busybody do-gooders at the EPA goes far beyond that, into our homes in fact. For the most part I would say it is enforced enough to deter the behavior, but it wouldn't be unreasonable or irrational for someone to petition for stricter enforcement. There have been no rate cuts, only credits and one time rebates. Upper rate brackets are set to increase, and a VAT won't be far behind. In most states property/sales/income taxes have gone up. Feds can print/borrow/tax, states can only borrow/tax.
It's like asking how will people get food without government grocery stores. Yet people think that's how education has to be. Idealy it would be entirely privatized, the curricula implemented by the state is seriously lacking, and teaching methods haven't evolved enough at all (the original reason for taking summers off was to harvest crops lol). Personal finance should be a major part of the curriculum, as should logic and critical thinking. But I wouldn't force my curriculum on anyone like the state does to kids. The school would have to convince the parent of its worth. If you wanted a voucher system I could live with that. Food stamps are more efficient than the Dept of Groceries (that sounds silly but it's exactly how education is run). Even if you see some merit in a public system, there's zero reason to have it controlled by DC. In high school I worked for a tutoring center, first thing all the parents asked was how are you better than Sylvan. We competed with them to provide the best education at competitive cost. That incentive does not exist in the public education system. Teachers and administrators could care less if you left, just one less kid for them to deal with.
What could possibly go wrong? The reason why there are professional educators is that they know what subjects kids need to learn in order to compete better than individual parents do. What you are suggesting is a great way to have the parents of an athlete have their kid take some basketweaving and play ball. You won't have to worry about no pass no play that way. It is also a sure fire way for the kid to be totally unprepared to economically compete. Really bad idea.
If a parent asked me I would encourage them to choose a curriculum developed by professional educators. But they need not be state employees (I would recommend against that in fact). But it should be their choice. I wouldn't presume to impose my view of how a child should be raised or educated on any parent. My notion of whether a kid is prepared or not probably differs from yours. Indeed in Europe some kids are admitted to professional athletic clubs at a young age, and their education might differ. Good for them. To each his own.
There are already many ways of getting education (home schooling, unschooling, private schools etc.) atm, I wanted to know exactly what your preferred solution was. I'm glad to see that you think educational institutions are important. Some problems i see: good private schools will cost more. Getting a good education will be more dependent on your daddy's $$$ than your merit. Poor families might be shut out of this private system, as a basic education might become to prohibitive in cost. UNLESS these institutions are sponsored by private/special interest groups with agendas which leads to: If I was a corporate sponsor, I wouldn't want critical thinking and personal finance as part of the curriculum. I would want to cultivate my next generation of product buying zombies.
I find it interesting that you say that the government should have missile subs to provide for the Constitutional clause of common defense but won't allow people to bring up the other Constitutional clause of "general welfare" in regard to the Dept. of Education. As I pointed out actions that I commit on my own property actually can have an impact interstate. For instance if I try to dispose of raw sewage and other toxic substances that I might have in my house in an improper method where that ends up in the Mississippi. Petition is fine, as you are free to petition for greater enforcement of immigration laws, the problem is practicality. To get back on subject your response is that illegal immigration is failing because of the lax enforcement and thus support a state reclassifying it in their state law's. While I don't see any Constitutional problem with that my point is that such state law seems impractical and largely a political move rather than anything that actually adds to enforcement. Credits and rebates are returning money back to the tax payers while upper rate brackets set to increase ignores the fact that lower rates are decreasing so you can't say that the government is constantly taking more. Anyway if you think that tax rates overall have constantly increasing you might want to check what the rates were in 1977 compared to now. A VAT is speculation and not something that factually supports your point. True many states the taxes have gone up but the States aren't the Fed.
