While I cant speak to that game, I find it really weird that teams who felt "snubbed" about their bowl game or opponent tend to come out flat and unprepared against said opponent. How many times does the team that got screwed out of this bowl or that bowl come out and look totally unprepared or unfocused? Happens far too often in my tastes for the other team that expected to be in that bowl or even happy to be in that bowl(usually a different team every time) to have just been a better team. Better prepared, better focused, but IMO not always the better team.
Bitten directly from Playoff PAC: The Fiesta Bowl's TV rating (8.2) handily beat the Orange Bowl's (7.1). Last year's Orange Bowl was also outdrawn by a bowl involving a non-BCS team. The BCS has repeatedly said the $430M revenue gap between AQ and non-AQ conferences is based on the "market." What are the chances the BCS will reduce the $430M gap becau...se of non-BCS teams' superior market performance?
Uh yeah, see the link that you quoted, I'll post it again for you if you missed it: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...-longhorns-youve-got-company-in-your-backyard Again, when you use the term "the BCS" set up this matchup, you might as well say "the Illuminati" or "the Trilateral Commission" - because the matchup was set by the Fiesta Bowl people. Second, aside from that --- so what? It did work out in the BCS' favor. Why? Because, after generating the most buzz of any non-AQ school ever, TCU came out and sh-t the bed on a national stage, easily playing their worst game of the year. That's reality.
Stop reminding me of that No idea why I still read this thread...the game is over and it has turned into a BCS debate
True, but I watched every game this season (luckily the owner of Jake's is a Frog so he televises every game there) and we really did have our worst offensive showing of the season. Of course, when your coach gives up on the run after 1.5 quarters in a close game...you do look worse. But good Lord...the penalties, the fumbling a shotgun snap, the dropped passes, the overthrowing wide receivers, the calling for 2 consecutive qb draws on first and goal at the 10...just awful. However, Boise St's QB overthrew two easy TD passes to open receivers...we should have lost by more than we did
So one web writer is supposed to mean anything? Of course you're going to be able to find some who are pulling for TCU, or making their case for them, as if being a member of the media (or any dude with a keyboard) automatically turns you into an AQ/anti-playoff schill? Newsflash Sam, lots of writers hate the BCS and would root for any non-AQ, or love for one of them to push for the nat'l title. Let me know when you find someone who is in a seat of power with regard to the BCS arrangement making statements like the David Cross lookalike contest winner guy did.
Hmm, it was set up by a B(C)S Bowl. The B(C)S is any part of the B(C)S mechanism that is keeping us from determining a proper college football champion by the decisions they make from year to year. And no, an individual college football team that is a part of the B(C)S system does not equate to a part of the problem because they have no say. I know of countless college FB coaches in major conferences that would prefer a play-off system. DD, even had TCU not dropped the pass, and perhaps won it in overtime, it would not have done anything to get us closer to a non-AQC team participating in the B(C)S championship. There was really nothing that would have happened with the B(C)S games being set up the way they were that would have given the non-AQC teams any kind of ammunition for getting in to the champ game.
And Sam, does it really bug you THAT much to use "BCS" in lieu of naming every AQ conference, aq conf officials, bowls, their officials, (and all the other people who benefit from exclusivity) etc? You know what the term is a placeholder for. So why does it bug you?
