i don't think the horns are gonna beat OU this year. but if they take care of business, otherwise, i'd say that's a pretty good season.
underestimated the Horns myself great second half, hopefully they will build off that performance and use the next 3 weeks to gear up for a extremely talented OU team.
Just got back from the game.....There were some nice adjustments in the second half. One thing I really liked was seeing UT run some more from the 2 TE formation with the single back. Also, due to injuries, we saw a lot of the young OL's and even true freshman TE Blaine Irby. The O-line played extremely well in the second half, though I'm sure part of it was a gassed TCU defense. Speaking of true freshman, DE Sam Acho had a nice 9 yd sack on his first play as a 'Horn! All in all, a good win after a dominating second half. The first half was scary, but I think both defenses showed some strengths today, especially in the first half. I feel better about UT now, but OU still looks damn scary. We'll see how it goes, but I'm hoping the UCF and Rice games are less stressful than these first two.
Looks like you suck. Childs. Rookie QB that Ran like hell in high school. Good thing VY was there tonight ti bail out Mack Brown and his poor coaching ability. Oh Wait...
im pretty sure it would almost be impossible for UT to do anything to ever make some people say brown is a good coach.
I think Greg Davis got benched at halftime. There was a totally different offensive philosophy after that. Defense looked good (only gave up 6 points and really never let TCU put anything together consistently) - unlike last week which was a disaster. The 2nd half team looked much more like the top five team from the first half of 2006 than the UT team that played the previous 4.5 games (KSU, A&M, Iowa, ArkyState, and TCU 1st half).
Time of possession, plays run, yards gained, etc were all even in the first half - there's no reason TCU should have been worn out. Texas started going to the vertical running and passing games in the 2nd half and, not surprisingly, it worked much better. Throwing 15 sideways passes for 5 yards is nice until TCU knows you're going to do it and can pick them off.
You didn't see Vince in a couple of those first down runs by Colt? Hell, there was even one designed QB sweep to the right side...even if it failed miserably. I have never seen a ref as in love with the offensive pass interference call. The first one on Limas was deserved, but the others were pretty lame.
There were some ridiculous calls called on UT. One of them was when Limas caught the ball on his knees, dropped it after about a second of being ON the FIELD with his KNEES and it was called incomplete. Looking at him from the stands, it was clear he was pissed. I was a little worried about Colt in the beginning but he came out and shut the haters up. He made some really nice passes and had a couple of great runs in the second half and Nate Jones stepped up. Charles was looking good too. Overall, a great experience for my first game!
The defense was great! I praised Greg Davis in the second half because it is rare for him not to suck.
I thought the TCU defense might have been gassed in the third quarter being on the field for 10:34 of the 15:00. However, I also got to thinking that there were a lot of timeouts and reviews in the 3rd qtr that might have given them time to rest. If nothing else, I would think that Tommy Blake would have been a little out of football shape since he didn't practice or play much prior to last night.
