Don't you all think it's kind of suspect that the same thing happened to Kevin McHales Rockets the season after they went to the WCF? Now what do both teams have in common?
Not sure if serious. Morey has been sitting outside Melo's apartment since he left Syracuse. Part of me feels like Morey got CP3 just so he could have a greater chance of getting Melo. Morey has been in love with Melo since cornrows.
Chris Paul and Morey. I never understood Morey's fascination with Melo. Statistically he is crap. A ball hog that keeps chucking and does not offer much of anything else. Non statistically he is even worse, Melodrama and chemistry killer.
I still believe that Melo was signed becuse he is a name and adding his name to Paul & Harden would give the Rox their own "Big Three". If Morey is half as smart as everyone says he is, then he had to have known that Melo's game is in serious decline. All Morey had to do is to review video of OKC's playoff run to see just how ill-fitting and irrelvant Melo has become on the court. There had to be something else at play here (probably CP3). At any rate, the whole episode just feels contrived what with Melo's past relationship with MDA and all. Now I'm hearing that MDA harbors grudges and supposedly has one for Carmelo from back in the day (NYC). Anyway, this is shaping up to be a classic case of overreach by Morey and the organization. Time will tell - I'm still waiting to see how they're looking around Xmas time.
Really signing Melo to a minimum contract was a no brainer , really a low risk decision. Anything you get out of a guy on that type of contract is gravy. Now IF Morey was signing him as a replacement for Ariza and Luc , that's a different conversation and was clearly a mistake. But signing a scorer like Melo to a minimum deal …. not an over reach at all , the fact that it didn't work out changes nothing other than Melo's place of employ. You do this 10 times out of 10. If it works out , great , if not …. nothing ventured , nothing gained.
Nah. Insane theory. Morey/Harden/CP3 would not risk a title-contending team for the sake of marketing.
Danny Ainge. And "exception that proves the rules" does not mean what you think it means. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exception_that_proves_the_rule
