I can name a ton of people on this board that wanted Carl Landry waived after he bombed in summer league games. Chase shot the ball very well, but it doesn't mean anything until we get to training camp and the season starts.

I think the pic was taken back when both were drafted in June. I believe it is the usual practice in the league for teams to have press conferences soon after the draft even before they actually sign a contract.

JT will most likely spend the year in the NBDL. he doesnt look like a NBA player at all yet, while Budinger could crack the rotation right now.

Nah, he has a $3.5 million expiring contract, he has value in that regard.

Jermaine Taylor and Chase Budinger will be major rookies next season if both are signed. If the Rockets let Budinger go it will be similar to suicide as this guy was a major player in the Summer League. I can't wait till the season begins so I can watch the new Rockets. To be honest though the Rockets are underrated. I really believe we will make the playoffs this year. This is the same young team that forced the Lakers to seven games without Yao or T-Mac, and now with the addition of Ariza, Andersen, Taylor, and Budinger we got younger fiestier.

White is likely to be waived for Chase IMO.

White is just not all that good on offense, on D, he is pretty decent, but we already have good wing defenders we need a contrast.

Chase fits the team more than White, IMO....

I don't think they keep White, he reminds me of Mike Harris a couple of years ago....just not quite good enough to break into the team...

J Taylor's contract is 3.3m for 4 yrs, with team option on 3rd and 4th. That's pretty cheap. I hope he can turn into a surprise, but more likely another bench warmer for the first couple of years just like Dorsey.

I know it was only the Summer League, but I liked what Budinger brought to the table. The Rockets spent too much money to acquire Taylor & Budinger, so they must of really liked what they saw out of those two players. Taylor didn't show too much (not a 100%), but Chase really raised his stock. IMO, if there are no more trades, White will be the odd man out. If the Rockets do make a trade, I look for the Rockets to package Cook in a 2 for 1 deal.

that would put his contract at around $800,000. that plus david andersons $2 mil, would leave us with roughly $3 mil left of our mle. assuming we either sign chase and waive white or just dont sign him at all (though i doubt it) why wouldnt we use this the other $3mil to sign wafer, we pay carl the same and wafer had a more impressive injury free season, and hes younger..

Because that 3 will cost Les 6 and Wafer is not worth 6.

I am as excited about Chase Budinger as the next guy, but at this point I have to view Jermaine Taylor as the better prospect. Most would disagree, since Budinger has played VERY well in summerleague. He blew away my expectations, and now I look to him as a bright spot for our upcoming season. With that said, for everyone downplaying Budinger's summerleague performance, they should do the same for Taylor's struggles so far. The truth is, we have only seen them play 5 games, way too small a sample size to determine success or failure.

The database that the Rockets look at pre-draft is much more indicative of these players' true potential. From that they determined to target Taylor and Llull specifically. From draft interviews of Morey, it seems they only acquired Budinger because he fell so low in the draft, yielding a good risk to reward ratio. He was not an original target. This may have paid off since Budinger is outperforming expectations. But it is really ridiculous to be making blanket claims regarding his and Taylor's prospects so early.

Use other $3 mil to sign Wafer? Are you kidding? Morey will not use so much money to just sign another SF when we have already a few good ones.

Let me break it down for the slow ppl. Everybody keep sayin we should've signed Budinger (or whatever his name is) WE OWN HIS DRAFT RIGHTS!!!!!! Second we most certainly know why Morey didn't talk numbers with Wafer now. So end all ur naggin about who we should've signed be patient man. Ya'll need to go support the TEXANS THIS YEAR!!!!!

I like Taylor. He's the type of player that you know will work hard. I've read from UCF fans he reminds them of Wade. If he come anywhere close to that we've got a hell of a player in the 2nd round.
