Chase is good, but I doubt that we will get any good talent or even a future draft pick just for him. More then likely, White is getting cut and we will try to deal someone else, although if we do another Steve Francis deal, we will be losing out another draft pick later on.
Since we jot jermain taylor i SEE this kid beaing an amzing player THAN budinger.People in ths threat say budinger is better?i see jermain taylor more athletic and strong .
Am I missing someone? Why do people keep saying we don't have room for Budinger? 1. Brooks 2. Ariza 3. Battier 4. Scola 5. Andersen 6. Landry 7. Lowry 8. Hayes 9. Dorsey 10. Barry 11. Cook 12. Yao 13. McGrady 14. Taylor 15. (!) Budinger White's contract is non-guaranteed, and he'll probably be let go.
I don't know why people think there's an issue about Chase Budinger and the number of players on the roster. As long as the number is correct by the time the season starts, it's nothing to worry about now. Some of ya'll act as if this roster is now set in stone and we're just gonna tank the season. This roster is not done. Trades can still happen. Players can get cut.
Go back a page.. they are thinking that White is under contract (which he is). My guess is regardless of trades all of the guys will go to training camp. Much like we have done before James will have to earn his spot on the roster if we don't make any trades before the final roster deadline at the end of camp.
That is how the Houston Chronicle reported it. [rquoter]That was far from enough to complete the Rockets' roster decisions early. With the addition of center David Andersen, the Rockets will have 14 players under contract, including White's non-guaranteed deal, and not including Taylor and Budinger.[/rquoter] http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6533549.html
Budinger will be signed they just haven't agreed on terms. If you all don't remember Landry shot horribly in SL. JT did struggle, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt considering he had strained his hamstring before SL started. Brent Barry will not be waived his contract is guaranteed and if waived would still be paid and count against the cap and LUXURY TAX. JT, Budinger, and White will go into camp fighting for the final roster spot (barring any 2 for trades that Morey has hinted towards). Kind of like the Strawberry, Wafer, Harris competition last year. IMO JT and Budinger will make the team and they will allow White to walk.
When Ariza broke his foot last year, the Lakers doctors told the Los Angeles media that his feet were congenitally deformed, i.e., not built for stress and that he was an injury waiting to happen. Up to that point, Ariza had always been a player I coveted for the Rockets. As for the other comments, I know that stepping on our current demi-god's toes is not PC in this forum.
Chase is good, too good. I think we will be part of deal bigger trade deal involving his rights. The writing is on the wall, Chase was clearly better in all fascists of the game then Jermain was in summer league. You could even make a case that Chase has more upside and value then Donte Greene and the rockets let him go for talent that served there win now purpose. I have a feeling there will be a deal involving Brian Cooks expiring contract and the rights to chase Budinger. You get the combo of cap relief and a you player that is a very desirable combination is this market.
....no it's just that your points about moneyball/morey always going for the cheaper and less talented player have no basis in reality.
Hey didn't we trade that 40 pt guy from last season's summer league? Anything is still possible folks...
Ariza's foot issue is well known even before the injury. In fact, here's what he said in an injury published on 12/01/07: It's on Hoops World so I doubt the link shows up, but go google "Trevor Ariza Deformed Foot" and you'll get the link. Whatever you think of that site, I doubt they just make up an interview with Ariza. It's not a matter of PC or not. It's a matter of your argument re: Ariza and Gortat making no sense in light of the contract numbers. Care to explain how the logic works instead of just accusing others of worshipping Morey?
This would make a lot of sense with the Lux Tax and Les' history with not going over it, and Morey's history of trading future for help now. DD
Nike, If I understand it correctly, now that he is signed we can not trade him for a while. If that is correct, then that is what it looks like, otherwise, why sign him now? Let him sit see what kind of deal you can make before training camp and whether or not it would include his rights. To me, it looks like Chase is the more valuable and desirable trading chip at the moment and the Rockets will hold off and see if they can swing him and something for a piece that helps now. DD
Maybe I'm confuse or behind the times (meaning the following picture is old) but the picture accompanying todays Chronicle story implies both were signed... unless Budinger is being used as a prop and is just holding up his jersey for grins (pun intended). Is this picture from when they were drafted?? http://www.chron.com/sports/rockets/
