You never got anything taken out of you're check and you thought nothing of it?

You should have asked him after your check, and you coulda settled it there.

If it was me, I would just settle up with the IRS, and then either walk away from that job, or get your boss to straighten out what type of employee you are.

Definitely I noticed, but I didn't think I'd have to pay over $6400 of taxes, thats over 3 months of my pay. I thought instead of paying month to month, I just pay my share in April. Honestly, the last thing that came across my mind was that my boss is screwing me.

Last night, I called the IRS after my night class, this was around 8:40, in a span of 30 minutes I was on hold and got transfered twice then eventually my call was dropped because "no one is available to service you at this time, please try again later".

I doubt you end up paying $6,400 on $22K of earnings even if you can't take any self employment deductions. There are other individual deductions you can take such as being a student and a standard deduction.

You're complaining about 30 minutes? I was probably on the phone with them for over 2 hrs.

Absolutely. You can even use the online version - you don't have to pay until you submit your taxes. Since you have 1099 income, you'll have to use the "Deluxe" option I believe.

    Royals Ego,

I am an accountant located in Georgia. I don't have time to read this whole board, and didn't notice your situation until today. Please email me james@mcmullancpa.com if you still need any help. Don't worry, I won't charge you for any advice, or if you need help filling out any forms.

For anyone else... in the future.

If you don't get a pay stub, you probably aren't having taxes withheld.

Always ask for a list of deductions if they hand write your check.

Other wise they likely have you as a contract worker and are not paying State or Federal unemployment for you.

Plus you will have to pay "self employment" tax which totally stinks as well.

A confrontation wasn't needed, therefore my reply is no
But your interest has flickered my heart to boast my ego
Maybe I will stand steadfast and chin up high
Face the deviltry and let out my battle cry

Once the weapons are draw, there is no turning back
Like Jay Z's resurgence, he was never fade to black
When the dusts settle, I won't have sheathed my crest
Instead deal the statement sent by the I.R.S.

    No_answer No_answer, beautiful like September's Star
Why won't you closen the gap instead mount afar?
My mind wonders if my stamina is enough
To keep writing poems for you, to profess my love.
