Just so people realize, Obama was not a full time, tenure-track professor at U of Chicago. He was a part time senior lecturer. The other part of his time was spent as a community organizer (Sharpton).
Really, because I thought they just organized a protest? Community organizing is a little bit better than that, I'll grant Obama that one.
Dude, Obama didn't want to be a tenured professor, he was offered tenure numerous times. When you blatantly lie and distort the truth, you look like a moron.
They organized a community of like minded people to come out and be part of a nationwide protest movement.
Give me a friggin' break. Working part-time at the university level ain't exactly like working part-time flipping burgers at McDonalds. According to the University website: "Several times during his 12 years as a professor in the Law School, Obama was invited to join the faculty in a full-time tenure-track position, but he declined." http://www.law.uchicago.edu/media/index.html The other part of his time was spent, not just community organizing (which is distinctly different than making up protests about tax breaks that actually benefit you), but working as a lawyer with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. So to be clear, he was: 1. Working to benefit his community through service 2. Practicing law at Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland 3. Serving as lecturer with the University of Chicago Law School all at the same time. Gee, what a slacker. I can't believe you're bring out the same, tired arguments that FAILED back in November. Just to be clear, so there can be no doubt: Get over it.
Sam, you are on fire this morning. That string of posts this morning was like watching a Hakeem dreamshake.
For the naive amongst you, that's called a do-nothing courtesy job that ingratiates the law firm with the local political machine.
Even with the right wing crazies working the board these days, it's still not often that I let out an audible OMG WTF!?!?! after reading a post so thanks for making my morning. OddsOn = Galileo
define "a heck of a lot" if you dont mind. and while you're at it, go ahead and lay out what "people like [ME]" implies.
Picking up from my Post #140 earlier in the thread: http://www.woai.com/mediacenter/local.aspx?videoid=681626@video.woai.com http://www.woai.com/mediacenter/local.aspx?videoid=681561@video.woai.com&navCatId=5 http://www.woai.com/Photo.aspx?slid...12&photo=465394dc-78f8-4000-9a35-b1541ff24083 I chose the NBC affiliate here because I felt most of you would feel they are the most credible (liberal), From the comments posted here, I know most want to believe what they want to believe and nothing is going to change that. That's okay. I hope you extend me the same courtesy in drawing conclusions from what I saw and heard (ie, left, middle and right can be compared to the children's story about the three blind men and the elephant). This may be a rebirth of the Republican Party. From the angst demonstrated against pols of all flavors, there could well be a change very like the Old Guard Democrats circa 1968 giving way to the New Guard Democrats during the 1970s. The only restraint to the rebirth will be the inclusion of minorities. Of the people with whom I chatted, minority inclusion and active participation is essential to that rebirth. Whether that can be accomplished remains to be seen, but Asian and Hispanic voters will be the difference makers. Most blacks, I'm afraid, will remain wedded to the Democratic Party. On a side note, I was both amused and gratified to see so many "peace" signs from the 60s. The irony was rife seeing aging hippies angry about the fiscal irresponsibility of both major parties. I talked to one guy with flowing white beard and long white hair tied in a ponytail. The end of his ponytail was dyed dark brown as was the very center of his beard. He was a trip -- still against war, still for legalizing drugs, still a yippie Democrat and still against the government dipping into his wallet. It's a shame he asked me not to take his picture....engaging personality, though. I look forward to his emails. Another really interesting couple was a half-Korean, half-Hispanic woman with her Hispanic husband and their little 3-year-old girl who was greedily consuming a fried fish dinner. The couple owns a convenience store, and their big gripe was the complexity of the tax codes and the future of their small business. Oh, yes, they voted for Obama but now have some regret. The tea party was absolutely perfect, although by mid-afternoon the crowd was really beginning to sweat, mostly from being packed so tightly, which choked off any breeze. I already vote for setting up in the Alamodome for the July 4th tea party that is brewing. Okay, its time for questions and observations.
So since you are working so hard, one would think you would be delighted with the tax breaks Obama is dishing out to help you keep more of the money you earn instead of giving it to the government. Yet you are out there protesting. This is why the protest makes no sense. You are protesting tax cuts for almost every American. Good luck with that.
thumbs you really lose any credibility when you use language like this. I expect it from the likes of TJ but not you.
