Oliver Wendell Holmes didn't have a ****ing clue about what civilization is. He advocated for the worst tyranny this country perpuated since the abolition of slavery. And his famous "Clear and Present Danger" ruling? Defended Woodrow Wilson's ability to lock up 150,000 war dissenters.
weslinder: Of course, I agree with you. However, I kind of think you have provided here a textbook definition of an ad hominem attack. The point (which has been made elsewhere in this thread) is that those b****ing about taxes are often those most accustomed to enjoying/using what those taxes provide. Moreover, for the vast majority of the "waaaahhh taxes" crowd, Obama has provided tax breaks - which makes their indignation not just wrong, but frightfully partisan, and wrapped in such a thick robe of ignorance and stupidity as to make me head hurt. Take back your party from these lunatics weslinder. I like the mantra of less spending, but I won't support partisan hypocrisy and paranoid delusions.
I know. It just irks me to no end that Oliver Wendell Holmes is still lionized as a "well-meaning" liberal, when he was in fact a defender of all sorts of government tyranny. I'm trying.
