I don't doubt that, but you said Tau wasn't interested and now there appears to be this big offer.Maybe Tau will want an extensive physical,on the other hand they might not(an MRI might be enough for them).

Check the dates on the articles. It isn't new news, they've been posted before. If you look through those Landry you'll see that "offer" originated from this BBS :D

The email I got was sent today.

from what i hear(from denver fans), smith is very able to avg near 20 points per game if he was really needed to step up, or if AI was not on the team, i wouldnt take the chance of using the full MLE on smith but offering half or 75% of it to smith would be worth the risk

From a pure talent perspective adding J.R. Smith makes sense if Denver indeed is leaning towards not matching any offers for him, but there's absolutely no coach capable of controlling all the ego's on this team now that we've thrown Artest into the mix and and then adding J.R. on top of that?

There aren't enough balls to go around. Adding Artest changes the landscape of everything.

I think this is similar to Delonte West 10 million dollar offer from Dynamo Moscow, you know, the one which was completely made up by West and his agent for more leverage.

Um... Guys, I have a question. Can Artest play the 4? Oh no, he's a center. Sorry, my bad.

Seriously, who cares. TAU would be crazy to overpay for Landry.

I think Landry will eventually be back with a 3-year deal at 8-10 million total or something like that.

Artest in the fold changes the whole equation. We're now a much bigger attraction for players who want a ring. We don't have to scrounge for talent. We can pick our FA(s) and allot our cap accordingly. Landry is just another option.

Should have dealt with us before the Artest trade, Buddy.

Wait, didn't Scola play for that team?

... They can afford to pay Landry more now than they could afford to pay Scola? Is that what I'm gathering here?

It seems so weird that we could take Scola (the better player) from them, but they can take Landry from us.

Oh, and JR Smith is garbage.

    ... Complete and total GARBAGE.

There is a reason so many teams have been so willing to give him up. Not to mention that he would basically be nothing more than injury insurance. We have ZERO need for another swingman right now with McGrady, Artest, and Battier taking all the minutes there.

Mid Level Exception or MLE is the amount alloted to NBA teams that are over the salary cap to acquire free and restricted free agent targets. For 2008, the amount of the MLE is ~ 6 mil per season.

We could use it on any remaining free agent targets that fit our plans.

J.R. is talented and I like his speed, athleticism, shooting, dunking but he has got to work hard on defense and become a better team player. He has improved but has got a long way to go before deserving the full MLE IMO.

Let him go, im sick of his crap. It's obvious something is wrong with his knee. It would benefit him more than anybody to get it checked out if it was healthy and him waiting for guaranteed money tells you that he's not 100%.
