I just watched the video. The student may be an idiot, and his lack of cooperation should be punished somehow. But the fact is: - Police don't have to taser him multiple times, especially after he poses no threat lying on the ground. - They have quite a few officers in the scene. And they can cuff him and carry him out. Instead, they like their toys very much. - Taser can lead to death. Go to watch how Taser's stock moves these years and what is behind that. But in the end, I am not surprised of your point of view, becasue in my impression you are usually in the side of national machine of United States.
Great point The student may have been out of line but the cops were not in danger, there were many of them. There was no reason for multiple taserings. They were out of line and they abused their powers, and they need to be punished
How many times was he tasered? I only could see it done once for sure. I don't think they seemed like they were enjoying themselves. To imply that Tasers planned this as publicity to drive up their price smacks of liberal conspiratory theories. I bet you believe 9/11 was an inside job as well.
I don't think that is what he was doing. There have been a couple of instances in the past when Taser's stock took a nose dive because someone died from a taser, or someone was sued for using one incorrectly. I think he is just pointing them out as evidence that there have been concerns and problems in the past.
Feel free to read any of the news reports on the incident. Nobody that I have seen has denied that he was tasered more than once.
how about the campus police, who admit that they tasered him multiple times? are you really this dense? it seems that anytime we are discussing people doing dumb things (senator macaca, for example), you are always right there defending and making excuses for them.
Where is that admission? I haven't seen it. If you are going to make and accusation - you need to back it up. Seems to me that every time someone makes a mistake - you are the first one to say the person must be evil and therefore is a racist bigot. Why do you liberals hate the police so much?
How can you honestly defend the cops in this situation. They are clearly wrong. Where is your "proof" that they handeled the situation well. They did taser him more than once and if you dont believe it you are stupid. They never should have even used it period. There were multiple cops around and they could have easily escorted him out without using a taser. They took advantage of their power and they need to be punished
first of all, if you watch the video you can hear the cops yelling at him "stand up or you will get tasered again" than you can hear the taser go off. video proof that he got tasered AT LEAST twice. second, in one of the news articles posted in this very thread the university police admit to tasering him multiple times. the info has already been posted so i didnt feel the need to directly reference it, but i guess some of us are lazier than others... from post #12 on page 1 - http://www.latimes.com/news/local/l...-home-headlines "Campus police confirmed that Tabatabainejad was stunned "multiple" times." where have i mentioned the terms "evil", "racist" or "bigot" in this thread? or anywhere for that matter? you are going to have to give me some examples - not that you have any credibility, but i think you should back up what you are saying. i call them as i see them and in this case i see a disgusting abuse of power - i dont care who it is, wrong is wrong. am i to understand that b/c i am opposed to excessive force by police i am a liberal? could you explain that one to me? im curious...
If you think you're can call me stupid dont' expect a reply...I'm tired of you haters tossing insults when you can't debate in a civil and rational way. Go away.
you put up a broken link and call that proof? look, you've went on this crazy git where you chased me around and harrassed me - I don't want to get into it with you and get you started again. So I don't need the personal attacks ok?
apologies - i never checked the link, but the entire article was posted in pg. 1 post #12. are you now saying that mr. brightside fabricated the article? are you still going to deny that he wasnt tasered more than once? what about the video - the cops tell the guy they will taser him AGAIN, which would imply that they tasered him a first time. after they say this to him you can clearly hear the taser go off. are you saying that did not happen? did you watch the video? a simple google search brought up the article - things do get moved around out there in the www, but its not hard to find if you want to. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-cellcamera16nov16,0,4794591.story?coll=la-home-headlines "Campus police confirmed that Tabatabainejad was stunned "multiple" times." are you still going to claim that he wasnt tasered multiple times? ...probably so this is a debate and discussion - when i see people writing outlandish things i will respond to them. i cant help it if i disagree w/ alot of what you say. i am still waiting for you to tell me how being against over aggressive cops makes me a liberal.
see how easy that was.... I have no problem with debating or discussion. It's one thing to disagree, it's entirely another to go around every thread and tell people I'm a liar obsess about me as a person. I only ask you stick to the merits of the debate and not personalize it.
it was very easy - that was the point. if you really wanted the truth you could have gotten it, but you chose to keep your head in the sand. you still arent admitting that he was tasered multiple times, despite the proof. admit you were wrong. the topic at hand is that you claim he was not tasered multiple times. it is an outlandish claim and all the facts go against you. i dont believe i have made any mention of the fact that you are a liar in this thread - you are the one who brings it up. why dont you stick to the merits of the debate instead of bringing up this stuff? who is the obsessive one again?
