Well, everyone said he clearly outplayed other bigs in the preseason.

Looking back he had 3 good games (one exceptional rebounding game) out of 8 preseason games

    10 and 15 against Memphis
    8 and 7 against Phoenix
    10 and 8 against Orlando

    Now regular season
He had one game where he had a 10 and 6 outing in Mexico against the bad Wolves

Well guys will say he is playing solid D and we are winning.

In the long run should we get help there and employ a solid NBA bench player who can average 8 and 6 rbs in limited time?

Or is Black able to develop into that player in short time?

He is a grade A certified scrub along with Dorsey.

Letting Adrien go for these two bums - disgusting

Probably going to need a Better back up in the long run.

No paint protection when Dwight sits

Imagine you are in a dire need of a babysitter for your kids.

You decide to hire Casey Anthony. <------- This is the equivalent of signing Joey Dorsey.

You then figure that you could use some occasional shooting. So you go and get Diane Downs as well. <-------- This is the equivalent of signing Tarik Black.

Either way, your kids are dead.

I'm fine with Black as backup C in the short term, but we need Jones back so he doesn't have to see the floor as much.

He's much better than Dorsey IMO. Kind of reminds me of a Greg Smith type player, just solid.

I can't believe I'm desperate for Emeka Okafor to don a Rockets jersey. That man would solidify our backup center position.

Black is awful. Can't play offense, can't protect the rim or rebound on the defensive end. Trash would be offended by the comparison.

    Speaking of backup bigs...

Richard "Best defensive center in Europe" Elmer "Ray Lewis with a basketball" Dorsey, what a baffling signing.

What is he, like the 5th string center?

If for no other reason, get rid of him because apparently folks confuse him for Dwight Howard.

This. Do people really expect backup bigs to be available for no money? Chris Kaman got MLE. Jordan Hill got $9 million. Dalembert is still pulling a huge paycheck. Centers get paid.

its still early in the season, but i thought dorsey was gonna be the backup c. there was an unusually a lot of dorsey supporters in the dorsey signing thread. with dwight there's not much needed to backup center. just just 10 minutes of hard defense and rebounding from dorsey.. jones and dmo can get the rest of the backp c minutes.

i hope morey tried to find a true backup center but couldnt get one cuz they aske dfor too much or w/e. for now, when the team is healthy, looks like dmo will be the first to backup dwight, then jones if they're both on the bench.

Well the fact that everyone lists the backup C position as the biggest hole on the Rockets roster tells you all you need to know about Tarik Black.

You do realize Howard only allows 10-15 mins of pt per game right? Exactly how many pts and rebs do you expect in 20 mins, if a guy can give you 8 and 6 in 10-15 mins that's not a backup that's a starter/almost all star.

Black's fine, he's a big body who doesn't mind contact, plays D and can scrap for boards and garbage buckets. To be honest the real letdown is Dorsey, he was supposed to be the best defensive big in Europe and should've been our primary backup this season, wtf happened to him?

If everything goes right Howard is probably going to play 72+ games and I am not counting in minor injuries.

That is probably 8-10 games when a quality backup has to play the whole game.

If everything goes well the newly added veteran can play both and PF/C and one of Jones and Dmo are either on the bench or on another team thus allowing him to play even more minutes......
