I note that the Spurs just gave Julian Champagnie $15M per year and the Hawks just declined their $24M option for Jonathan Kuminga. If the Rockets pay Tari more than $20M a year then they're fools.
To be fair on Champagnie, the Spurs also declined a $3 million option to give him way more money this year, which has to be factored in when looking at the contract’s value.
Warriors just gave Kristaps Porzingis a 2 year, $40M deal. He's only played in 131 games over the past 3 season. Tari? He's only played in 139 games over the same span. Again, not a penny over $20M a year for Tari.
And Porzingis is a better player than Tari with a rarer and more valuable archetype. Granted, he's also on the wrong side of 30 now.
