Tari will start once he shoots above 34/35% from the three point line. We can’t have inconsistent Jalen Green and FVV with another non shooter. Sengun needs floor space to operate
https://nbarankings.theringer.com/ 97 Tari Eason Houston Rockets Analysis The fine folks of Houston have taken a liking to branding Eason, alongside teammate Amen Thompson, as one-half of the “Terror Twins,” a two-word elevator pitch in praise of the duo’s demonic defense coverage. Great nickname. But think about that for a second. Eason plays with such dogged insistence as to supplant reality: Never mind that Amen, rather famously, has an actual identical twin also in the league—Tari is Amen’s funk soul brother. Eason’s Year 3 breakout has been a leaguewide revelation amid Houston’s shocking pace as dark horse contenders. The breakout might have come even earlier had he not lost most of his sophomore season recovering from a stress fracture in his left leg. His effort and intensity jump off the screen and the spreadsheets; he’s the rare player whose eye test aligns almost exactly with his glowing metrics. Eason is an athletic, instinctive defensive playmaker whose 7-foot-2 wingspan and massive yet nimble hands have made him a “stocks” lord. Steal and block rates have been logged for the past 50 years of NBA history, and Tari’s outstanding combination of the two over the course of his young career is exceedingly rare. He has already proved to be a menace on the offensive glass, with one of the highest career offensive rebounding percentages in league history among players 6-foot-8 and under. And among his historical cohort, only Charles Barkley possessed the kind of on-ball creativity Eason has flashed on offense—which should only improve from here now that he’s gotten his 3-point shot to league average. The next step for both Eason and the Rockets is finding out just how much his production can scale up without losing that edge—or compromising his body. Eason has already missed nearly a quarter of the season tending to a lower left leg injury—the same leg that suffered a stress fracture last year. Because if his battery can withstand 30-plus minutes of hell-raising two-way play per night, Eason has the makeup of a player worth building an identity around. —Danny Chau
The folks who want to give up on Tari are extremely short sided. You don’t trade a guy like Tari. I’m not sure why a guy like Josh Hart was traded 4 times by age 27, but I wouldn’t want to be one of those GMs that made that decision. These big motor guys who seemingly overachieve every game and contribute significantly to win share should not be traded. And that should be obvious. You want guys like that on your team. Tari is still young. You hold onto that guy.
I get pumped up just imagining Tari during playoffs. He has that ability to completely change the course of games. Pairing him with Amen gives us an edge against any other team tbh. If we had a real closer I’d like our chances against anybody this season. KD for DB and Reed could have turned us into favorites, although I still believe internal growth, with it’s intrinsic pains, is still the safest way forward.
Having both Tari + Amen in starting lineup does 2 really important things: Alp has 2 instinctive + aggressive cutter options. Terror Twins are on floor together for bulk of minutes generating more synergistic defense to offense opportunities.
But can Terror Twin Tari stay healthy? Looks like he is feeling better but gotta have the dude getting 30+ minutes a night.
I think bringing Jabari off the bench while Tari starts is a good strategy for now. Jabari can work over bench units better, can work his way back and then provide some length as well. Especially since Ime doesn’t use Jeff Green enough and if he does, there’s little plays run for the guy when he can get off any shot he wants.
I'd like to see the FVV-Amen-Brooks-Tari-Sengun lineup a lot once FVV is healthy. Hasn't been used much this season so one can't garner too much from just the lineup data (it has been amazing in a small sample). That lineup should absolutely wreck offenses. I think Amen has grown enough offensively that he could handle being the secondary ball handler on the perimeter. If Amen grows into being the primary ball handler, FVV is also the best off ball guard the Rockets have regarding shooting (Amen is best at finishing at the rim). Tari just adds a wrecking ball source of chaos for the defense along with adding the 2nd best three point shooter by percentage on the team (not counting low volume 2-way guys or the third center).
Tari would have broken out last season if it weren't for his leg. Despite the discomfort and pain, he did quite well but the pain grew and became unbearable after 22 games. Without any pain, he would have gone to another level in production. This season is a year of recovery where he hasn't been 100% all of the time, but we can clearly see what he is capable of. The yo yo of missing games has also hindered his development. If If If Tari is fully healthy next year, he will be impossible to keep off the court. He will be too productive on offense and too disruptive on defense and on the glass. Just my opinion.
Terror Twins have earned the right to start but politics + pride is getting in the way of basketball.
