Tari and Amen playing at the same time is fun to watch. They both always get the 50/50 balls and both have amazing second jumps when missing a shot. I feel both should be starting over Brooks, but I really like the lineup when all 3 are on the court with Green and any center.
Tari's really great but he needs to continue to get better, just like all our young players. When he's on, he's making defensive game changing plays and contributing offensively, hitting open 3s, getting offensive rebounds and put backs. When he's off, he's fouling too much on defense, and is a non-factor offensively. Can easily see him though develop into a key piece to a championship contending team
Brooks has looked good like he did last season before straining his oblique. I think Brooks helps out a lot with Sengun on the floor. If he keeps playing well, he'll continue being the starter. I think Jabari, as much as I hope he develops, is more on the hot seat.
Once again, ignore draft position, salary/contract, and who you thought it would be. Who is the actual guy who is making an impact for you to win games? Tari is a star talent, develop that, give him minutes, and start him if he's outplaying others.
Tari had 27 points on 57% FG, 60% 3PT, 9 Rebounds, 5 Steals, 3 Blocks, and +11 Plus/Minus the only positive player on the team. He was given a starter's share of 35 minutes this game. Those are star numbers and impact.
Man, that was one of the most impressive games I've seen from a player... not just a role player but any player. He put the team on his back and we almost had the 5th largest comeback in NBA history Tari and Amen are a nightmare
Tactically speaking, we really need Tari to replace Brooks. Gives you equivalent defense and spacing. More speed, athleticism, length, transition opportunities, rebounding and stocks. Gives Green a running mate in transition (which we desperately need), makes our starting lineup much faster on average, we replace our worst rebounder with one of our best. We can realistically achieve a good pace with this lineup while grabbing more rebounds. Sengun/Jabari/Tari would dominate the boards. Brooks has been incredible for us but - unless he's willing to come off the bench - it's time to start listening to offers and see what we can get for him. I would attach a 2nd rounder, see if we can get a backup PF and a frp. His contract is amazing. Declining while the cap increases. By his final season he'll be making like 10-15% more than the mid level exception? That's a bargain. Clippers, Bucks, Heat, Suns, Nuggets, Cavs, Lakers, Wolves, Warriors could all use him for 30-35 minutes a night. I'm sure one of them can come up with a frp. Probably not a very good one (25th or something), but it will make for a good sweetener in a trade. If we combine that pick with our own least valuable future pick plus you throw in the most disappointing member of the core 7 at the trade deadline... you could snatch an elite role player on the trade market. We might need that help. Maybe we can entice Ainge to give up Markkanen or Kessler.
I've liked Tari more than most. I may still have to increase my expectarions. His 3 point shot looks a little bit quicker once he starts his motion. He does pause too much before deciding to shoot still. To really punish defenses from sagging off him, he needs to not hesitate so he can get more attempts.
Tari is best suited to come off the bench right now and he will start to get close to 30 mins as the season goes on. They are being justifiably careful with him after the injury. What is really troubling right now is Ime being ok with FVV and Brooks slowing down the game to a crawl when they are on the court. Brooks has been surprisingly good on defense, but he is still has horrible BBIQ and his minutes would be better served going to the development of Amen and Tari. Stone needs to save Ime from himself.
Brooks is good against guys like Wemby, taller but weaker players but he is not quick enough going against smaller players.
I can understand the viewpoint, but I disagree as he proved he could play 35 minutes and dominate last game, he's been trending the whole early season. Small sample size of course, but through six games Tari is clearly our best forward and has an argument for Best Player on the team per impact stats. Look at the PER, TS%, Winshares, BPM, etc. He needs to start imo 2025.html Also here is Tari historically, for his career, he plays better as and against starters, and when his minutes increase. He is best suited to start per objective data and extended play like he did last night with 35 minutes. These also include his rookie numbers and when he was injured last year, he's clearly improved as a player imo.
Agreed with those that say it’s time to move Dillon. Tari, Amen and Cam make Dillon expendable. I’m betting it happens this offseason. Let the terror twins cook.
