Varejao is playing center for the Cavs at the moment and is doing pretty good at it. He's like Nene, a combo 4 and 5. In my opinion he's a good center but he will blossom at the power forward position. But, hey a center is a center and he brings to the table what we need.
The Spurs ain't trading us Splitter, not for Hill anyways. They may give him to us for Scola or some other lopsided trade that makes us worse. If the situation with New Orleans sorts itself out to them dumping salary, we've got plenty of pieces to take back Okafor and Paul and would be the most logical trading partner. That is unless we make another deal with somebody else. Brand is not a center but he plays big. He's got very long arms and he blocks a lot of shots and he has to be accounted for when opponents are playing in the paint. Brand is a good paint defender. And he is a shot blocker. Of our bigs right now, I would put my money on Patterson being the best paint defender and shot blocking presence, even over Hill. Hill does not understand spacing and his brain is basketball slow. Great body, great athleticism, but slow to react. Gortat? If PHX decides to tear it down in February, trading him and Nash to Houston for Brooks, Hill, Bud, and expirings would make a lot of sense for Phoenix. We'd probably have to take Childress off their hands too. But that's a deal that either gets done Feb 24 or it doesn't. I think it's doubtful they break it down. They're gonna ride it out with Nash and try to put parts around him. Gortat is a keeper. I just don't believe Denver is going to move Nene. Young bigs like McGee aren't going to help us in the playoffs. Camby? Portland will want an arm and a leg. And they'll only trade him if they are clearly out of it. Camby would be the ideal acquisition if Portland would take Jeffries' expiring contract. I could probably be tempted into offering them Hill and Jeffries. Camby has one year left so he would be an expiring contract next season and could bring more trade value back to us. Haywood?? Nope. Dallas would love to get rid of that contract. He's simply not worth it. Varejao?? I think he could be attainable. Don't know what the price tag would be. I would do Yao and Hill for Varejao and Jamison. Salary dump for Cleveland with a young player to develop. Jamison is like Camby. He expires next season at $15 million. Nazr/Diop?? I'm sure Charlotte would let us have both just to get rid of them. I'd much rather have Varejao. Kaman?? I would think the Clippers would give him up for expirings. But they may be holding on to him to pair with Davis and get rid of them both. Don't know how much he would help us anyway. Biedrins?? 25% FT shooter, unhealthy, don't see it. He can board, defend, and run though. GS would have to throw us a bone somehow, perhaps we give NY back their pick swap for Randolph, and then we send Jeffries and Hill to GS for Biedrins and a pick swap for 2011 with them and us??? Don't see much else out there. Notice these are vet centers. A young, rookie developing center does not help us in the playoffs this year.
I know some will be opposed, but what about gortat and childress for battier and a combo of hill or patterson and chase/lee/williams? As someone stated before, suns dont have a 4 man and the rockets have a glut of 2's and really 4's. Childress and gortat are both signed to mle contracts and are both 26 ish. Phoenix is going to start dumping and trying to get younger, cheaper player. Shane is the vet and expiring, hill or patterson, doesnt really matter, but both young and on rookie deals, lee, bud, williams are all on rookie deals also. Childress and Gortat fills out the lineup and whats leftover from hill/patterson and lee/chase/williams still leaves the team with depth.
Jopa- The pistons and hornets have something going on in regards to prince and hamilton to the hornets. The hornets arent trading paul or okefor.
I see PatPat's future as brighter than Gortat's so I wouldn't want to include him. Battier, Hill and their choice of Bud, Lee, or TWill would be fine.
DeAndre Jordan is putting up a freak show against the Hawks. 8rbs and 5 blks in 14 mins, really really has intimidated the Hawks who right now look scared to go near him.
Yep, similarly to another hometown boy in Rashard Lewis. To be honest, DeAndre was more rough and I believe Dorsey’s' failure here was caused by his mediocre attitude.
I can't believe this. They're gonna have to send out West to make it work or else send out Ariza and a bunch of expirings, which ads significant salary to N.O. That would have to be a trade where the 1.25% comes into play and likely push N.O. into the luxury tax unless West is sent out as part of the package. Does not make sense, especially for a team that is owned by the league and is costing the league already.
Someone one on 790am a week or so ago said that the Hornets aren't taking on any salary. If they are gonna make a move, it will be to shed salary, not take on any. That is why a Yao + Brooks + fillers for CP3 and Okafor makes sense for both parties.
I think it is well established that i am a big fan of Scola. I brooded all summer until Bosh signed with Miami, fearing the Rockets would pull off that trade. That said, I would trade Scola for Splitter if the Spurs would even consider it. Because I live in San Antonio, I watch a lot of Spurs games. This lad is the real deal, and, even at 6-11 and 240 pounds, would make a superb center for us, especially if Yao made a miraculous comeback. Also, Splitter, who turned 26 yesterday (1-1-11), would fit the younger profile of the Rockets.
For people on the Okafor bandwagon, why no love for Bogut? He gets 1 million dollar more per year, but is 2 years younger, 2 inches taller (unfortunately as injury-prone), and according to scouting reports an underrated passer. I think he'd be perfect with Adelman. I wonder if the Bucks continue to suck if Milwaukee would consider rebuilding about Jennings. Obviously, you'd think they'd want to keep Bogut in the mix, but they might find the price for getting out from under their new big contracts is packaging it with Bogut. Of course, that means we'd have to take on Gooden, Maggette, or Salmons, but it might be worth it...
^ THIS^ Never understood why Morey passed on a 6-11 PF/C w/ TREMENDOUS athleticism for a 6-8 PF/C w/ athleticism - especially when we already had the 6-6 Hayes and 6-8 Landry.
I think we should try to get Brand, Iggy and Hawes in a package for Yao, Jeffries, Budinger/Lee that would be a move to better our team now... this would improve our team the most and would be a plausible win now move... Camby is too old and his contract is too big (maybe if his contract was aroung 7-8 million/yr)... I don't see New Orleans trading Paul to get out of Okafor's contract (its only $12 million)... I would take DeAndre Jordan but at what price?? McGee has a low BB IQ but if we got him Cheap (unlikely) then I'd take him I think Gortat could be had... he seems to not be too happy in Phoenix... but what do we have to give up? Haywood is getting older and lacks production and has a longggg contract that ends up paying him almost $10 mil a year at the end ...
Either JaVale McGee and DeAndre Jordan would be nice. Maybe since Denver wants 5 first rd picks from NJ for Carmelo we could send a first round pick and a player or two for Brook Lopez.
